Don't let anyone dissuade you. If you want a HMMWV and want to add creature comforts then do it. It's your truck and your happiness. Do what you like and have some fun.
Btw, HMMWVs crush jeeps in all aspects that matter. Just my unbiased opinion. 😉
Dont forget our own... Retired Warhorses, who is the most knowledgeable of all of these shops, in my opinion and Ive purchased parts or services from all of them.
Otherwise, I think you hit most of them. Oh there is a guy out in Illinois. I think his company is Military Truck Works.
There is...
Whats needed is a friendly Highway Patrol Officer willing to issue a 17 Digit VIN to HMMWVs. Then Voila, like magic, all of these issues go away.
This VT thing is scary though.
Thanks.
You'll find the Corbeu seats are very similar to the footprint of the Hmmwv seats with the exception of the height. They are significantly taller. The base is actually shorter than the HMMWV and the width and base height are near identical. The height / headrest was important to me...
Yep. The seats are Corbeau seats and the paint is custom Lamborghini Reventon paint. There is a backstory to that but I was able to attain the paint code and get it mixed. The Rocker Panel protection is factory H1. The Hmmwv doesnt have much side impact protection so I added the H1 RPP. I...
It's funny you post this. I just sent my tachometer back because I couldn't get mine working either. Tried on both the Alternator 'AC' post and Ground as well as on the yellow transmission component behind the doghouse cover and no luck.
Well that's the million dollar question isn't it.
The answer is......it depends. Objectively speaking the design itself is outstanding. It's innovative and modern. It gives the truck a whole new feel. It allows for the installation of a modern framework in a truck that never had an option for...
So the dash is basically two parts. The long piece that spans the width of the truck and the dog house cover piece which has the passenger friendly electronic chargers and cup holders. That piece goes on top of the existing dog house cover. It's secured by thumbscrews. You simply twist them out...
So, I got the dash installed and it has been a pain in the ass. The bulk of the work is done but there are still some significant fitment things I need to work through. If anyone is thinking about buying one of these hit me up and I'll give you the things you need to be aware of before you...
I missed the obvious bolt location due to paint covering and likely weariness :) but I got them out.
Now the real question is whether or not to save the AC / Temp knobs.
Thanks all
It's these 2 bolts to the left that refuse to come out. With no access to the nut in the back I'll have to cut them out which I really didn't want to do.
Even in cutting the heads off the bolts, the shanks will fall behind in that box and rattle around forever. But these 2 bolts hold the dash in.
@Mogman how in the world does a person get to the nut behind the (2) 27 bolts. When I'm trying to take out 27, in true HMMWV fashion, it just spins and spins 😃
In the carpet I used Dynapad which is water proof and the carpet is marine grade. As for the seats they are essentially a type of vinyl so they will be fine. Also, I live in So Cal and we dont get a lot of rain and the truck stays garaged.
Lastly, my turret doesn't really leak but I've never...
