I would also check the wheel cylinders. When I got my first 404 my brakes didn't work. I had to replace all 4 (they can be rebuilt) and I went ahead and replaced the rubber hoses just to be safe incase they had collapsed due to age. This way I only had to bleed the brakes once. Nice score.

If memory serves me correctly you can't have a PTO if you go with this modification since the shifter is on the same side of the box as PTO output.

I towed both of my unimogs on my trailer (at separate times) with it multiple times. It was like it wasn't even there. It rode alot better loaded.

This would a great idea for those of us who want to run alternative fuels. Have one tank for diesel to start and stop on and the other tank for veg oil, ATF , motor oil or etc.
