Sorry but I think a multi-piece conglomeration between the fan and clutch was just a disaster waiting to happen. The new setup with the fan bolted directly to the clutch gives you far less opportunity for failure. The difference between how much vibration you have on these engines would be...
Adventure Driven and I both lost our fan clutches (old style) at highway speed taking out the radiators when it happened. I recommend everyone change them out whether they’re bad or not just to prevent a future mishap. It was a stupid design to begin with.
Unfortunately yes. I have Multiple Sclerosis which is why I switched from the deuce to the LMTV. Unfortunately shifting and steering aren't the only considerations. It's getting to the point where it's difficult for me to even get in and out of the truck so rather than let it melt into the...
If anyone is looking for the oldstyle I have a NOS set I was saving for spares. Since I'm trying to sell the truck they're available. I doubt spare door handles will make or break a sale.
And here I have a trailer mounted 002A that I can't even get $1100 for. Unfortunately I didn't have it locally when Harvey went through last year and looks like the Atlantic is quiet this year.
Well it's been a while but finally got most of summer stuff out of the way (awesome trip on the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route in July) so back at it on the Champ. Keith_J was out yesterday and we got wheel cylinders rebuilt on all 4 wheels and bled. Still a little emulsion in the lines so...
If you check out their website they have ZERO items for sale to the public other than trucks. Their PARTS were being sold on eBay but there is no listings for them.
I believe you can get the VIN changed if it's that important to you (ease of travel being a concern). Most states will do an assigned VIN for such things as home built trailers, kit cars, "assembled" vehicles such as street rods, etc. You could probably talk to whoever handles those for CO and...
No I took my POV. From my place to Canada and back was 5495 miles. While the BDR was about 20mph the rest of the trip was at around 80mph. Plus there were spots that it wouldn't have fit. We were trimming trees just to get my RTT past so no chance the LMTV would have without a chainsaw...
Video and article are both great Seth!
I got back from doing the Idaho Backcountry Discovery Route last week. A warm shower would have been nice along the way.
I just did the floor (front and back) with 2 coats. To be fair the 1009 is a giant tin can so sound and heat radiate off it pretty good. AND I'm in TX so heat is around more of the year than your part of the country.
My LMTV blew the fan clutch and took out the radiator. Fan clutch design was extremely flawed and should have been replaced by the military but wasn't. I also lost a rear brake canister due to age/stuck diaphragm. These 2 items didn't show up on normal maintenance but still happened. No...
I think you're assuming a lot here. I've had mine for over 2 years and driven it several thousand miles and while I've been maintaining it (and improving it with ac, LED headlights, etc) I'm not going to tear the engine or tranny apart to overhaul because it's working just fine. These...
Not sure about CA but in TX you need at least a Class B license for M939 series trucks so unless your wife wants to get a CDL you should look at a M1078. If you want one that is solid $10k probably won’t cover it.
