I have a feeling that the thermostat is not closing the port to the radiator, either because it isnt fitting properly or there is no gasket allowing water to flow past when it is in the closed position. I would lean in the direction of it not seating without the gasket but don't know without...
Also looking back at the pics I noticed the Tstat bypass is looks like it is part of the tstat housing. If the thermostat is below the bypass (on the engine side) then the bypass won't work properly and the heater might be allowing water to go around the thermostat and into the radiator.
If you...
The Thermostat has a pellet side I cant remember if it is the side with the spring or not. Be sure the side with the round tube or "pellet" is facing the engine and not the radiator. If you install it backwards it will not open and the engine will overheat. Your engine block should get to about...
I have a couple of M35a2 trucks. I fit in the ones with the "plywood box" seets much better. The adjustable ones with the springs make my belly rub...
I am 5'10" at about 250.
In addition to additives Lucas makes a gear oil. I used some last time I needed to add oil to the trans. You can tell the diffrence. Lucas is cleaner stickier and difficult to wash off your hands even with good soap. The only way I would judge a oil or additive is to look at it and compare it...
I have one of my trucks registered as a normal truck all the others are fmv. The reg on the normal truck is about 250.00 year. I used the weights on the dash tag 13,000 empty and 18,000 max - I think.
Thanks for the pics. From what I can tell it looks like a very good spot for hoses. It looks like the one on the bypass is right on top of the water pump. It should about the best flow there that you will get anywhere on the engine. The one on the back of the engine looks good also. The top of...
As I understand it the m1009 interior electrical system is 12v - I could be wrong.
If I were adding AC to one I would look for a civi blazer and see if the ac/heater parts will swap then look for a compressor-bracket that will fit the diesel.
Make sure the hose connected to the waterpump is near the lower radiator hose. If it is anywhere near the tstat or the upper radiator hose you won't get enough flow.
I always use 160 - 170 tstats here in Texas. The engines will run at about the same temp as a 180 -195 will up north.
The...
I never knew you could use the primer to prime the ip. I will have to try it as soon as I get home!
I have a 5 ton tractor, expandable van and just got a dump truck. The dump truck is hard to start after sitting. If I use ether to get it going it runs good. I haven't had time to go through the...
I just did a member search. It doesn't work so well. Some are listed as TX others as Texas.
On the bright side there are over 1200 members in TX and Texas combined...
I like the idea of starting a thread and letting people know if you need help in an area.
The primer pump injects fuel into the intake manifold. It doesn't prime or pressurize the IP. The reason you start then die is because the engine burns off the fuel in the intake manifold.
It sounds like a air leak somewhere in the fuel system. The hoses going to and from the fuel selector will...
I used a auger type insert from Jegs in mine and it worked good. I like it because it fits inside the stock tube and doesnt require any cuting or welding.
Going to 11r20 from 9r20 makes a big diffrence. It turns a little wider but is a lot harder to steer. You have to be moving the truck to turn the wheel.
The 11r20 is about 42"
The 9r20 is about 38"
I would guess 46" would be about the same increase over 42". I don't think I would try it...
It has 125hp That is less than a diesel VW Bug. If you could pull it down the freeway at 70 with a VW Bug you would have a good idea what you are asking the old multifuel to do.
