I heard the problem with CTIS is when they get down to a certain pressure the CTIS won't air them up and the truck may not be able to build up air pressure.
I would also recommend driving instead of flying.
An air tank that can get large tires to about 25psi.
You should plan on buying 2 new...
I have a friend that has one that won't go over 45. We replaced a bad in-tank pump and all the filters. It still won't go over 45. We decided it must be turned down or something. If you floor it with no load the engine sounds very strong but only revs to 2400 rpm.
Thats why I was wondering if...
sounds kind of serious. I have 1 truck that makes a rattle from the front by the injector pump, turned out to be the air compressor. It still makes noise but runs fine. I willfix it someday.
Just curious will it do the same speed on level ground as it does up small hills? steep hills?
I would start troubleshooting the heater and hoses now that you can get the head to 160.
One thing I would try is disconnecting both heater hoses from the engine and taking a garden hose on low hold it to one of the heater hoses and see if the water flows easily through the heater system.
If you...
When I got my tractor I tried for a couple of days to get it unhooked without moving the saftey latch. Finaly I gave up read the TM and decided to go ahead and try lifting the saftey latch - It made it a lot easier...
They only have the gear ratio and torque advantage if you leave them stock. New gears and or taller tires uses up the torque fast.
Keep at it and keep an eye out for a rally in your area. I think a close up at a rally would be the best thing for you. You might find someone that will let you...
If the trailer is empty and the truck does not have air suspension you should crank the landing gear down till it just touches the ground. If you start to lift the truck you might end up putting pressure on the pin and the locking mechanism.
I have a 5ton expandable van with 2 heaters. The fuel pump is 24v. It looks exectly like the one on the 5k mil generators. The pump is mounted on the front of the box behind the drivers side cab by te fuel tank. The heater runs at about 1-2 psi so be carefull. The 24v comes from the trucks...
You could remove the rear tandem driveshaft and the front driveshaft so only the driveshaft that goes from the transfercase to the front rear axle is hooked up, then swap only the tires on the front tandem and see how your truck deals with the hills. With small tires on the rear tandem you might...
I have the numbers at home, unfortunatly I wont be home for a week or so. Also there is a Fleet Pride in San Antonio TX that gets them for about 26.00 + 4.00 freight. I have 2 on order. They had to special order them and had them sent directly to my house.
How soon did you need it?
Either way you go it will be expensive. Both are worth looking into. With the axle ratio change you will run in 4th close to what you are in 5th now. Keeping the smaller tires will help prevent excessive steering resistance. But once you comit there is little you can do to fine tune the top...
A 180 deg thermostat should start to open around 165-170 and could account for the head temps. If it is very cold outside 30deg is very cold (I'm from Texas) when the thermostat starts to open it will bring in cold water from the radiator which first enters the water pump making it colder than...
Thats good. You will know more when you get temp readings. I was looking for the ir thermometer I have. It works good but I didn't see one to get a pic of - I am away from home today. I did notice Harbor Freight Tools has one for $15.00. I dont know how well it is made but havn't seen them that...
