Correct me if I am wrong but if it had shorted on ALL of the windings then it would have let out a LOT of magic smoke and it would certainly smell like it did.
We have no rats in NJ, well as long as you don't consider the government.
One thing we do have an abundance of is chipmunks and they will go up the exhaust and actually store food past the open valves on top of pistons.
Believe me, I am not the goto guy on generators! I am reciting what I have learned from others on here. Hint, When Guyfang or Chainbreaker suggests something, pay attention! I am an expert on engines and automotive electrical systems. Generators are a sidelight for me basically out of necessity...
When it is cold you set the unloaded running speed so the cycles are at about 61-62. Then when it warms up and you put a load on it check to see where it settles in at and adjust the rpm to bring the cycle down to 60. It is best to have a separate meter plugged into on of the outlets on the...
No big deal, When things are going bad and you need answers NOW you do what you need to do. I don't know if it says anything in the manual but do NOT run the set at idle!!!! You will burn out the regulator because it will be trying to make power from less than enough voltage which raises...
Just so you know, That know you pulled on is a vernier throttle so you can turn it to slowly adjust the throttle speed. And as Chainbreaker said, be sure to get the manuals and read through them. The operators manual especially. You want to read through that several times and sometime when the...
You say the switch is set correctly for 120 and the voltages are correct for 3 phase. You should be set for single phase for a home unless you have some strange wiring in your house and it is wired for three phase. I will assume you are set at single phase, have you checked the voltage adjust...
So you are saying you no longer need to be approved through the government to buy surplus equipment? No EUC? Looks like it is still needed for vehicles and I needed it for all the gen-sets I bought.

I was trying with the actuator out of the unit but actually that unit only pushes the louvers open. When cool the button on the actuator retracts and the springs on the louvers close them. There is no connection between the louvers and the actuator.
On mine the pivot that the louver rods attach to was bound up pretty tight on the shaft. I had to take the whole thing apart and drive out the shaft, sand of the rust on the shaft and grease it up and reassemble everything. Even then trying to open the louvers by hand is really tough. I may take...
I decided to give mine a good going over and an oil change after this last outage in preparation for the next one and in my checks I found that my air louvers were not opening! The pivot had bound up in there so had to take it all apart and clean the rust off and grease it up and put it all back...
DOH!aua And I have two of them in the yard!! Right there in my sig!!! I was just working on mine and didn't think to try the fill tube blowby check. It is just not natural to me to pull a fill tube while an engine is running, on many engines that is a recipe for a face full of oil!
The OP is asking about the 002, isn't the 002A water cooled? The 002 is a very basic air cooled 2 cylinder and even though I have not tried it on mine it would be normal for a fair amount of blowby to come out.
Not trying to be a smart azz but you seem to have a few denial issues LOL. The batteries are junk! 5 years max and on a gen-set that vibrates like these do 5 years is asking a lot. If they were ever run down below 11 volts you will be lucky to get 2 years out of them. So get a couple new...
Light in the dark, I was looking at that charger of yours and I was thinking about one thing, IF that has a common ground then it will be shorting the two 12 volt batteries to 24 volt at the ground instead of running series. You can only charge two batteries that are hooked up in series while...
Yea, I need to get an outside outlet at that end of the house. I actually need to get all of my electrical work done, the 110 outlets, the 220 transfer input and the 30 amp out for the RV.
