For those looking to repair, I don't think Timesert has the correct kit for this application. Full-Torque has an insert with the counterbore for the o-rings.

The 50 series is apparently a 4 cylinder 60 series. These are big engines, very tall from pan to valve cover. That would be your biggest fitment issue.
I operate a few C7 engines and can absolutely understand why you don't want another. We use John Deere 6068 engines in the same application and...
I use adhesive mount fasteners.

It's expensive but it isn't. You're looking at $75 to $150 to install your first fastener. Fasteners are a few dollars each. The adhesive is about $35-45 a cartridge lasts only a short time after it's opened.
Start at the battery and probe every wire until you find one that has no voltage at the other end. You may be able to feel where the wire fused as it will have a soft spot where the conductor burned our. You can cut that piece and use a butt splice to repair, you don't need to replace the entire...
The 14 bolt full float axle was only built as a heavy 3/4, 1, and 1-1/4 ton axle. 4.10 is the 1 ton ratio and you know your 1-1/4 M1008 is 4.56. There is probably a 3.73 option, otherwise, I don't think you're going to find any lower ratios.
The M1008 cruises at 65mph ok. It has some serious...
Sandia.National Laboratories did a study about running the 6.2 diesels on low lubricity fuels, specifically Jet A-1, where they examined failed pumps.

Their conclusion was that the pumps were not affected by the low lubricity fuels.
Yes, the grill/headlights and vent windows changed during the civilian 1980-1988 production run so you must order 1984 parts for those areas. Most other parts are the same but it's best to just always order for 1984.
Just remember, all CUCV trucks are 1984 models despite production year. I have a 1986 and learned this the hard way when ordering window seals. I'm not super happy with my seal kit so I won't suggest it. I'm not super unhappy as I have made no attempts to make it better so I won't suggest...
Everybody has their preferences. I have used Diamond Diesel for various pumps over the years. I had one problem with them installing the wrong shutdown solenoid. They gave me the tools so I could swap it on engine without removing the pump.
There are very few gaskets that are supposed to be in these engines. Despite them being available through the aftermarket, don't be tempted to use them. This list includes the oil pan, valve covers, exhaust manifolds, timing cover, water pump adapter plate. If you're assembling an engine on a...
