My M1009 is rolled black. It doesn't look too bad. I bought it that way and haven't changed it. I plan on going to green though and I'm debating weather to just roll green on top or sand down and spray.

I can second that. I would have used an ACDelco one on mine but it failed at like 2pm on a Sunday and I needed it for work in the morning. So I took what I could get.
Is the wire that burnt up a fusible link? If so, you burnt it up. Repair that first then I would load test my batteries then check my connections and make sure everything is tight and not overly corroded.
