Forgot which website this is coming from, but a convoy of 5-tons M51s loaded probably with coal for Berlin
There is a white Mercedes Benz on the left, probably an MB 180 or 190. They were made between 1953 and 1962, so I think this pic is from the late 1950s, or more likely from somewhere in...
Thanks, this is good news, we will be there. Maybe make an SteelSoldeirs Euope meet from it?
We are now preparing our exhibition 30 year end of Cold War, more about that later. Would be interesting to combine it. I have a 1965 M51A2 dump truck from the Engineers that maybe was used or at least...
Easier said then done, I am looking into it for our 5-ton. Going double is a pain, and going air-brake is expensive and difficult also. Also changes the truck rather strongly, but if earning a buck with it is your only goal, why not.
I am not sure from this sentence if you plan to upgrade from...
I did not read the entire old thread again, but know the discussions about this topic: these trucks are not made for "high speed" OTR work, they are designed for average 50 mph slow work. Save yourself a lot of money and time and buy something that is suitable for your OTR needs. One big problem...
If you would do something like that, I would try to keep the two master cylinders as close as possible together, less tress on the pedal modification. But as mentioned by Rustystud, you might run into problems. Adding newer is probably easier to get certified.
With a 5-ton, it's probably...
I am just organizing a conference and found out that it is actually quite easy to use a google form as registration for whatever. The nice thing is that it automatically sorts it in a downloadable excel file as well. I normally stay very far away from anything google or facebook, but this one is...
For the M39 dump truck, the highway numbers are 22 000 lbs empty weight, 20 000 pay load, 30 000 lbs towed, makes a legal allowed GVW of 72 000 lbs. For off-road, this would be 47 000 lbs. This is more or less the same for the other M39s; the M52 tractor has a lighter empty weight and 55 000...
What always wonders me is that there is not much protection for the tires. I know weight is a problem and human protection is way more important, but some skirts might stop or deflect at least a few bullets making it possible to get the heck out of a mess.
That jeep on the left looks awfully familiar to me, don't know why.
edit: why do I see the images in the quote when writing the post, but not anymore when posted? Can anybody change the attachments back to real images?
