    Tractor - Nebraska to Washington

No, exactly the details I wanted. Holy .... . Is that a Case tractor? Can't help you with transport; the Czech Republic is a bit too far away for that, but would love to help with restoring it. We are preparing a large project to restore narrow-gauge railroads including some steam engines...

Any more details on the tractor, maybe a pic so we know what you are talking about?

    Bad News Georgia HMMWV Owners

The "Waiver and hold harmless agreement" states Does not say: unless made road worthy or street legal or something like "agrees that Humvee in its current condition is for off-highway use only It states agrees that Humvee is for off-highway use only. How I read this is that it is for...

    Bad News Georgia HMMWV Owners

Just curious, it had a street title, ended up with Iron Planet and was sold to you. Does that mean that at the time of sale through IP, it was not a military vehicle anymore but a private vehicle or had the military titled it for whatever reason?

    Bad News Georgia HMMWV Owners

Oh man, me and my big mouth, I had to open it again . No, I was not attacking you or anybody; I was trying to help get things clear, which I think it did. It mentioned:if you have a YES on two or three of the questions, then .... You made very clear that, in contrary, you have three...

    Bad News Georgia HMMWV Owners

Lets keep it clear. First, I have nothing against trying it and fully understand the feelings involved (and the cash). Unfortunately, that is not relevant here. For those who bid on a HMMVV, paid and signed the papers, 1) was it stated clearly that you bought the vehicle with a limited...

    Bad News Georgia HMMWV Owners

I swear I had a post on this written and submitted, but it disappeared? Probably pushed the wrong button, and now Swiss beat me to the punch line. As Ron said, don't complain if the states follow the rule and expect you TO FOLLOW THE CONTRACT YOU SIGNED even if its the biggest BS imaginable...

Adding a hydraulic or electric retarder to a 5-ton

Correct, but as mentioned earlier, we are going to dual the circuit regardless, and as number two priority. If I have the whole truck up and am messing around, might as well add some kind of retarder as a nice extra to help regular brake action in our hilly entrance into town. However, I do not...

Adding a hydraulic or electric retarder to a 5-ton

I think the picture is getting clearer. Let's ignore the 900 series. It's a completely different beast, an older modern truck, while the M39 and 800 series are basically newer old trucks. Anyway, the 900s have auto trans and mostly already a retarder installed (if not connected). However...

Adding a hydraulic or electric retarder to a 5-ton

Just checked what that means. The pressure-regulated version (works also at lower rpm) or the fixed hole version (a lot cheaper but works only good at higher rpms)

Adding a hydraulic or electric retarder to a 5-ton

Thanks for the interesting replies. Here is the link to that post of Cranetruck. And another interesting thread. This one mentions Telma retarders, which I was reading about also. I read about Jake breaks and exhaust brakes. Can't find that article back, but I think it mentioned that an...

Adding a hydraulic or electric retarder to a 5-ton

With the older 5-tons (m39 and o00 series), there is an ongoing discussion if and how to make the single brake system in a dual circuit, to help avoid catastrophic loss of brake power. I am looking into it again, and ran across the hydraulic or electric (mag) retarders as additional brake...

Challenger 2 main battle tank (MBT)

Probably testing if they can get them back quick and dirty on the cheap from the mainland once Brexit goes ahead. Or maybe they want to defend the entrance to the canal tunnel on the French side.

    An American Deuce in Canada

Not a gunman, so I had to look it up again, but his was a combination gun with two barrels, shotgun over riffle (I think). You are talking about a drilling gun with three barrels; two shotgun barrels next to each other and a riffle barrel in the middle underneath it.

    An American Deuce in Canada

I was working as assistant with a guy from the University of BC along Alaska Highway Mile 422 in 1981. After the 5 months were up, I took some vacation there with my then-girlfriend in a 25 year old Austin Westminster. Turned into a parking place along the AH one evening and saw something moving...

    LMTV- Colorado to Alaska

bump I really want to see some pics. Have been working around Mile 422 Toad River Lodge for 6 months in 1981 and dreaming to go back to drive the Alaska Highway again. Until then, pics from others have to do, so please humor me and others waiting for the pics.

    M51a2 dump truck towing capacity

Thanks, this is very important information, I did not know you could not /should not tow full-air trailers with a multi-fuel. Does this go also for the M52A2 or does the tractor version has more air? I checked the ...10 manual but could not find that reference.

    M51a2 dump truck towing capacity

In short: legally and safely outside your own private land: NO My M51A2 has been made street-legal for the European Union with both a modern "fish mouth" trailer coupling (pintles are not allowed in Europe) and a fifth wheel (I can switch the dump bed for a fifth wheel and back). I can legally...

The beast died after hitting a bump!!

Maybe for the moment, forget about the BUMP thing. It looks that you started out with multiple problems and this bump may or may not have been the final bump that started the house to fell down, exposing different problems while doing that. Like breaking an already corroded wire inside the...
