Karl, I don't think he wants to sell the GOER, maybe the 123, but it would be expensive, then add the shipping costs and insurance costs. In both cases, you are talking ro-ro transport; containers are way to small. Rotterdam is close, so getting to the port and then to the USA is no problem...

Ross Steering Gear adjustment after rebuild

With engine running? edit: yes, with engine running, not much sense without it. to my defense, it's late here and we are under pressure of several deadlines and actions, like our Czech Mikulas - Devil's forging tomorrow in our blacksmith workshop and the steam hammer getting into...

Ross Steering Gear adjustment after rebuild

I combined two Ross steering gears into one and put it back inside. A complete rebuild thread will come later, now I am sorting a PROBLEM . Steps done on work bench: 1) Cleaned everything thoroughly, oiled it in proper oil and put it back. 2) Out the cover/control house back according the...

    Magirus Deutz wrecker crane 6x6

I don't follow auctions anymore, don't have $$ to bid and don't want to get frustrated if they go out cheap. But I would expect well over 10K.

Oiling o-rings and seals before installing?

Thanks, started to read, but its half hour after midnight here, bit too late to concentrate. So what you are saying, don't use anything else than DOT 5 in this case. What about the grease used by the previous owner; looks like a bad decision as well.

Oiling o-rings and seals before installing?

I know its better, but were are talking DOT 5 silicone brake fluid here. I know that a very small bit of different oil normally does not matter, but I don't know how DOT 5 reacts to other oils, especially what I have here: W90 gear oil, old engine oil, or kitchen oils, nothing else.

Oiling o-rings and seals before installing?

TM ... 34-2-2 actually mentions that you should put a light film of brake oil in the slave cylinder and on the gasket and seals. Since it it mentioned there, for me, that means it is not necessary in other places?

Oiling o-rings and seals before installing?

I am rebuilding the master cylinder and air pack for the M51A2 Neither the rebuild kit nor the TM mention that you should oil anything before installing, but maybe that is standard knowledge or general information specified elsewhere. So should you, and is it a big problem if you don't? Also...

Is a 6-ton not a bit under-powered for a heavy mover with a 20-ton trailer? Olive-Drab shows a nice color pic of a restored Corbitt 50SD6 truck (bottom of page), courtesy of the Overloon War Museum. I think that some of the stuff from this man actually came as surplus from the Overloon museum.

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2017 - November VOTE HERE!

With all the worthy contestants, the extra's, additional details, and background (in this case, tailgate) have to decide the vote. These are very worthy causes supported here. Gets my vote. Secondary effect is that these efforts help giving our hobby a better image.

M51A2 hydraulic power steering problem ross hydrapower

I started to clean out the gear box, using straight diesel and small paint brushes. Lot of stuff came out. Also took off the power cylinder. The connection to the gearbox did not look that great (left) compared with the one from the original box (right). Inside and the higher...

M51A2 hydraulic power steering problem ross hydrapower

Got a new used Ross steering gear. On the truck, it moved very smooth. About a month ago, some idiots loosened the return hose (return to oil reservoir) on the control valve assembly and left it open, so it got rusted a bit inside. When back in the Czech Republic, and taking off the steering...

Looking there again is a bit of a problem; I am 926 km away :( The trailer came out of a private museum that is downsizing. They said the trailer is not WW II, so he can have it. He did some research, and actually it is 1944-45, so WW II. Whatever, he his happy. I am not sure if he got the...

I was in a hurry, arrived late Monday afternoon and I could not get the steering shaft-tube out of the control house, probably the bearings or the splines got stuck. Called it a day when it got dark and got back the next morning. Still not much success, in the end we loosened the control house...

And some pics of the more destroyed trucks he has standing around. Although some definitely are not for destruction. And a very surprising find overgrown in the field: I could not get a good light angle and with my phone, quality is not perfect. However, this GMC standing here...

Some more nice toys standing in the back. The biggest surprise was the M520 Goer, dwarfing the 5-ton wrecker standing next to it. Only a handful remain, and this is one of them in a very good condition. Another toy for if your neighbor parks his car in front of your driveway

I found this place while looking for a new steering gear for our M51A2. Man, this is going to pop some eyes out, I bet. Sorry gals and guys, the place in in the Netherlands, so a wee bit too far away for most. This is a bit of what I saw arriving at his place. Then he showed me...

    deuce steering gear

Mine (5-ton) turned very easy and smooth despite the fact that the tapered stud had much more damage than shown above.
