I put new batts in my deuce a while back. Group 31 Dekas with threaded post. No more tapered clamp post melty nonsense!
I recommend Deka. East Penn Mfr, made in USA, they kick. I have a commercial account and paid $111ea.
Had an idea...valve to close off air intake, probably after turbo. Emergency shutdown in case of runaway and would provide engine braking in case of brake failure.
Thanks. That reinforces my idea. Everyone always preaches brake inspection, but how is a guy supposed to inspect the inside of his brake lines for rust pitting? I'm going to do some brake testing on my deuce. Start on dirt and work up.
I had my VW sand rail wad up a shoe just like that going down a big rocky hill. Scary. Now I will be welding my deuce shoes when they're off.
I think a good idea would be to periodically find a safe place and practice panic stopping our deuces. Good practice for driver to know what to expect...
Yes, it's like a vacuum boost, but air. Brakes are hydraulic. I think this is what we're going to be doing unless you want to buy an airpack. I recommend Erik's, closest.

It's hot down here in the desert, I need...
My deuce rides way better than that 700, though some of that is the spring seat. If you want a decent ride and load capacity, air bags are the way to go. If you're bobbing 4x4, it shouldn't ride too bad. Front of the deuce doesn't ride too bad.
Yes...he didn't say.
I used to peg my Cummins 5.9 for short periods (big sand dune climbs) and never had a problem (related to heat anyway) but it would be nice to have some way to monitor actual piston temp so that we would really know how much we can push it and for how long.
