Proud new owner of 84 m1009 (body work update)

Nice "Another one saved". Great job. The Matt clear will be much easier to clean and should help keep it from fading for years. Now you have to drag a logging chain across the hood and hammer a few dents in it to get the "authentic" look back.

Gen 1 Light comes on when heater switch is turned on

Check to make sure that mice have not nested up in the squirrel cage in your fan. You can reach up with your hand through the outside air duct on the passengers side. Pull the damper cover off and reach up to the fan and see if the fan spins. I had that happen to me, the mice packed their nest...

M1009 Jack Storage Photos For Reference

My 86 1009 jack-jack handle-jack mount-and wrench are all mounted in the back by the spare. They of course were missing when I got it but a 2,000s vintage junk Ford van had a close match "never used". I gave the junkie $20 bucks and we were both happy. I decided to mount the jack horizontally...

Lost Fast Idle Function When Cold/Thermostat Replacement Issues

You tend to assume that new parts work like new. I went to install a three-way light switch circuit for a customer and worked on it for hours and still couldn't get it to work. The customer started to question my ability and so did I. Long story short and after plenty of frustration: The brand...

    CUCV Gear Indicator Issue

I think it's time to find a new mechanic with some patience and common ingenuity. They are not that hard to modify a fix as long as the original string/cable is not broken.

    M1009 Revival

Looks like a great project. I wonder if that could be the true mileage on the odometer. The photo of the fuel and brake pedals show very little wear so you may have an original underused low mileage gem. The antenna bracket mount in the rear tells me it's a 83 or 84 truck. To bad that the PO did...

Lost Fast Idle Function When Cold/Thermostat Replacement Issues

Check that the switch wire from the switch to the injection pump is not compromised/broken. Not sure why a new switch would stop working to begin with. it should be normally "closed" when cold and continuously keeping power to the idle advance in till the engine warms up. once it warms up it...

    How to keep her cool?

I have purchased and installed your kit last year after doing a lot of reading and research and while replacing cracked heads on one of my rides. No problems as of yet nor am I expecting any. I have not noticed a "Huge increase in HP" Nor a "Increase in fuel mileage" or "Faster off the line"...

Fire extinguisher that fits existing mount M1009

Yes, there should be a raised plate that the bracket mounts to. If not, just mount the bracket to the floor pan with short self tapping screws.
