Welcome FireStar from Missouri. Get settled in and as you see and FEEL the iron. You can get a better look at what and how you can use, and the cost involved.
There is a thread on est. cost of just owning different MV's. Hopefully a member can post it up, and give you an idea of just the legal...
Awesome thread, I still see Military Fire trucks used as Tankers or off road brush trucks.
The last M715 I seen a few years ago was an auction from the Antonio Fire Dept, Antonio Missouri.
A lot of blue smoke, loss off power, going up hills, junk in the tank. Sometimes after being stuck and knowing that the fuel tank had umm fuel station gunk in it I would pull the primary filter, K30 Civi primary and secondary, and dump fuel into jar to check and to see how bad. I carried a 1...
Upgrade to three quarter axels or one ton would be great for off road but not for the occasional trip into the unknown.
Plenty of upgrade parts for better dependability, but try a different gear setup. Three seventy threes are a good compromise, even with larger tires. If you get off the hard...
Excellent point porkysplace. It does often happen at connection points, splicing, and any place there is a bare wire or crack, split in the wire. Corrosion under the insulation will most certainly give a week ohm reading, but at that point it is about to fail. Heat in a wire is a sign that...
Very Kool Armor, and Hello from Missouri. Yes I would be interested also as I would drive into local river and when the local Police would show I would be giving rides all day.
I would surmise that the American Military if they had any V-100s were probably left in country to the ARVN. That...
Does the bed line up with the cab? Maybe frame is sprung from install?
If bed does not line up maybe put some stress on front or rear of truck.
Well you type faster than I, done flexed it some already. I would flex and check for bind, measure frame height, find which corner is needing attention.
Welcome from Missouri, Sounds like you have more than just one Hobby. Good for you to fabricate something functional for you to use in your other adventures.
At least you were motivated enough to follow through. congrats.
You may always get further and sign up and bid on a few that come up for auction local and or maybe in the northwest. Do some more research and no more about different equipment.
Do not give up! We need Enthusiasts! :tank:
rickf you are most certainly right. When buying work boots I always spend the MONEY to buy water proof boots, usually RedWing loggers. Problem is my feet sweat then the blisters will start. So as a first strike I will use Gold Bond powder and keep dry socks on.
The Gift that keeps on giving...
Well Done Thread, Outstanding! Thanks for the Great read and Service of the few for the many. I have an old friend that I have not seen for 25 plus years that now I have to locate. Larry McGowen, Driver, said you never seen rain till you been in the NAM.
Larry gave me a pair of what looked...
