I have a fender off the deuce right now, it got welded, sandblasted and primered. In the front where it rests on the frame bracket there was a strip of rubber to cushion between the metal. Makes sense, and it is re-usable and I will. But also along where it joins the cab there...
The Marine Corps Leage has asked me to drive them in the Jeffersontown Gaslight Festival parade on 9-15. I did it last year and it was a blast. But right now I've got my whole front axle torn apart and Murphy is dogging me every step of the way. Probably not going to get it back together in time...
Gimpy had told me that this event was going to be here in August so of course I was looking forward to it. The only publicity I could find was in a local paper called "The Voice." Listed no schedule, just a contact phone number and an e-mail. I called the number, it was no longer in service. I...
Last fall I bought a M200A1 trailer just to scavenge parts off it and scrap out the frame. The tires have been sitting in my garage since November. They were full when I drove it home (full enough to get here with no problems, for sure!).
Now they're all flat. What would have caused that...
Now that I'm running WMO (somewhere in the range of 60%-75%) I pay attention and read all the WMO / filtering threads I see. Many of them talk about making extra smoke. If anything I notice LESS smoke with WMO than I did with straight diesel.
Anything I should be worried about?
Looks like my...
I'm going to spend this spring / summer working on my M332 trailer, getting it back to a Vietnam-era look. This'll serve as a good practice on paint and body work (although it doesn't need much) before tackling the deuce.
2 questions to begin with:
1. I'm removing all the little tie-down...
Always feared I would do this and today it finally happened...yanked on the throttle instead of the kill lever when I meant to shut her down. Fortunately got it pushed back in before the revs got too high, but it sure woke me up.
Last week I noticed Google Earth had done a new fly-by over my house and updated their images, so now I have a satellite photo of my deuce and M223.
Post yours!
I finally got started with WMO today. I've had a drum in the garage for some time, and picked up a cheap-o HF hand-crank barrel pump (that may prove to be the weak link). Got the filter and housing from NAPA as indicated in other threads here.
Once the pump was assembled, the biggest challenge...
I'm in the process of taking these apart and hopefully some parts I'll be able to tell by looking but I wonder if anyone knows which, if any, components are the same as the deuce? For example wheel cylinders? brake shoes? etc.
I bought a M200A1 and just recovered it yesterday. I'm going to strip off all the parts and scrap the frame. Does anyone want the data plates? They look to be screwed on and only a little rust. I will send free of charge to anyone who wants them.
If anyone needs anything picked up, I have an appointment at 8 am on Friday (this week!)
I will be in a midsize suv so I don't have a ton of room but if you need something small picked up I can help!
When I bought the deuce I never really planned on doing parades. But a local guy who knows I have one called and asked if I would drive the local Marine Corps veterans in the Jeffersontown Gaslight Festival parade. What an honor. I had such a blast. I'll attach a couple pics. The guy who called...
I was checking the fluid levels in all my differentials and trans. case and transmission today. The transmission I don't think I had ever checked before. The fill plug has a magnet on it, and there were quite a few metal shavings stuck to this magnet. I cleaned them off as best I could before...
Technically the floor holders aren't mounted yet, just sitting there. I was thinking about getting them Rhino-coated or something first, to put a softer touch on them. But either way...the dash install went fine, except the first hole I drilled near the glove box was too high. There was some...
I just wanted to publicly thank Gimpyrob and Kipman for recently helping me bigtime, recovering some GL mercandise for me and getting it to Cincinnati. Thanks so much, guys. You're great individuals and this site is a great place for helpful folks. If I can ever return the favor from Knox or...
Got a camping trip coming up and wanted to be able to play some music (not while I'm driving, can't hear anyway). Picked up a 400 watt (24v) power inverter online for under $40. I was trying to figure out where to hook it up (it came with clips to go on the battery terminals, but...) I started...
