    CUCV in Belgium?

Those good old days of surplus auctions for this stuff are over as far as I know. You can get more modern stuff, but I think the auctions of old where whole depots were sold off when a unit left Europe are over. I am not sure what happens today with the older US stuff from the German bases...

    baby HEMTT Project

Did not read any further than this post, had to jump in. I am game. Even willing to fly into California and help get it onto a trailer and out to GA. Gives me a good excuse to come over again. Edit after reading the rest of the posts: Ron, sounds like a good trip

vietnam era hueys used for fire fighting

Steel Soldiers MV of the YEAR - 2014 VOTE HERE!

Second picture in that post. The truck is driving or stationary? I was looking at the person in the driver's window but it looks like a mannequin or a puppet, maybe Robin from Batman? Looks like a Photoshop job to me. The fifth pic is much better.

    Roadside safety: Stay Alive!

Very good thread. Sticky? In Europe, reflective vests and danger triangles are MANDATORY in all cars and the newer ones work very good. Not only do you need to have them in the car, anybody outside the car has to wear a vest the moment he-she gets out of the car. Not doing so can cost you a...

Steel Soldiers MV of the YEAR - 2014 VOTE HERE!

Just got back on site after several weeks off. Thanks to PB's campaigning I noticed this thread at all, almost mist it. I am torn. History versus personal preference. Proud vs DaveP's rig. I will give it a few days to ponder over even if the race seems to be decided already. Anyway, a...

    I almost feel guilty...

I was writing down "Or burns in the wrong place, like one lbs of plain sugar". Decided to check that on internet if it really works and found out that it does not work that great in diesels, although it might mess up your filters. Regardless, the idea that somebody comes over and dumps something...

Official 2014 SS Georgia Rally Multimedia SSGR14 thread

Land Rover Time for some exotic stuff; the British compound. Actually, that group of Land Rovers had one small Jeep hiding amongst them. I think that the main ham area coincided with the Land Rover camp. OK, thanks to Mike "Whiterabbit", an update on types and owners. I deleted my "what...

    permittable idling time?

Hopefully, next week my M51A2 will get some action. We are going to level part of the area around my son's workshop and the earth will be dumped around the outskirts of his property and to fill up a ditch to move the passing forest road 10 feet. An old Russian excavator with me as driver...

    Sold One of the Deuces

John, I was wondering how long it would take for somebody to realize that and comment. Not very long. At that time, I was alternating slide film with Ilford high speed black and white film. The black and white film I developed and printed myself, and played around with those pics. So yes, I...

And the last for Friday, at least for the engine swap 093: Getting ready for lifting the engine out, with Swiss (left) watching 094: A really amazing and professionally working team: Ron and Robert coordinating the engine lift-off. 095: Lifting a bit, pulling forward, tilting, lifting some...

some key players in lack of action Some of the key players taking it easy 083: Andy (Andy3) wondering if this really was a good idea to let these complete strangers have a go at his truck 084: Spec Ops Sgt Robert (rmtaunton)with his usual grin using the fender to get comfortable. 085...

Official 2014 SS Georgia Rally Multimedia SSGR14 thread

OK Andy, here goes A series about the first day of Andy3's engine swap, the mayor technical action of the rally. 075: Andy3's Deuce M35A2 waiting for its engine swap. It sat sadly alone on the repair field for the first few days until the action started. 076: The old engine: kaput. Broken...

    Sold One of the Deuces

What the heck, 16 of those beasts? Can I borrow one for next year's rally? Would be fun to have one in front and then piggy-back (or however you call it) the rest behind it. In this case, you should have the front wheels over the 5th wheel instead of the rear. This picture was taken in...

Official 2014 SS Georgia Rally Info SSGR14 thread

Night expectations for Atlanta on Thursday 24 Fahrenheit. I like cold more than heat; my record is below -50 Fahrenheit in February along the Alaska Highway. Minus 22 (no wind, clear sky) was considered a nice working day. However, for the Rally my preference goes to the same dates as this...

Official 2014 SS Georgia Rally Info SSGR14 thread

OK, maybe not YET in your life time (with two sweeps of the polar vortex coming way down this year, who knows, it might come). But you plan for expected comfortable average. This year was a bit too warm for the time of year, next year maybe will be a bit too cold in the October period, but...
