There is an important thing you are not considering here, proper grounding. When using this to power your house AND the neutral wire is not switched (99% of applications) you must remove the neutral to ground bond in the generator. In a out in the field application the ground and neutral...
A. Personally no, but I am sure others have. Me personally I have an allen bradley PLC autostarting a 004.
B. Once the throttle is set it should retain that setting and be close enough to work ( minor adjustments may be needed) On my 003 i have a battery kill switch to save the battery...
Motoring or motorization is where power is forced into a generator turning it to an electric motor. reverse power can also mean a phase rotation error. Basically the 3 legs fire 180 degrees apart in sequence and when they are backwards motors can run backwards. So when paralleling if they...

Its missing the l1 lug (not horrible) and it looks like the radiator louvers are pinned open. also not too horrible. other than that looks like its in pretty good shape, this may be a bit overkill though.
They make pin and sleeve outlets and inlets. just have to be sure you are 1 ordering the correct gender and 2 the proper volt and amp rating as the pin configuration changes for each volt and amp rating.
You would be better off installing an inlet for the largest current you would be using. IE you have a generator capable of 40 amps and one capable of 60 amps. install a 60 amp inlet. Its safe to use the 60 amp generator and if needed you can plug the 40 amp in as the overcurrent protection is...
I use my 004 for standby use, it is 3 phase but can be very easily rewired to single phase 120/ 240. I wired mine to autostart (but that took some doing) and 5000 seems a bit on the high side to me.
