Wreckerman and Sigo, please think about taking the tripods and camera's.
Screws and bolts I need to take back home. Basically: all these little screws used to fix the lock and window mechanisms to the door and frame, dashboard screws, bolt fixing the engine kill cable against the engine, bolt...
I will be traveling light thanks to flight luggage restrictions. So no evening dress and nice shoes this time. Lot of old clothes and working shoes which can be discarded after use at the Rally to take more goodies home.
Logistics on spot. Been so busy with tickets etc that I did not think...
Sorry mate, no can do.
Olga has no time tonight and I declined to go tonight to the airport (original plan before the cold hit) and sleep on the ground there because its too #$%$#@ at least in Prague. Don't know about Atlanta, but Prague sucks for that. So Monday night we will drive at 02:00...
Arriving Tuesday October 7 at 14:50 at Atlanta Airport, flight Lufthansa 444, terminal 1

Fellow mafiosi, any chance on a quick ride to the LZ
Did get that joke but the cold came back with a vengeance. Writing this with popping ears, stuffed nose and every now and then coughing my lungs out. If I could drive the 5,000 miles from here to there, I would be on my way already. Flying: don't think so. I don't want to sit like that in an...
I once went with Amtrack from Washington to NY and VIA rail through the Atlantic provinces. Was great but expensive. Buses I probably hate even more than flying, but did greyhound a few times.
I think it will be flying back out of Orlando. Problem is, I am fighting off a cold here than earlier...
Thanks for all the driving directions guys, but its not really needed. I was actually looking up the driving distances to figure out how to get there from Washington (if I would fly into there) or how to continue to Tampa afterwards, thinking planes and trains and bus because ....
Have a save drive.
Strange thing. For whatever reason, over the lasts months I somehow misread the data and got the idea that the GA Rally was close to Dalton, just south of Chattanooga. I was now checking driving directions and distances again and find out its in a completely different...
Count me in. I am bringing video- photo- and web camera, so we can record what is happening in detail as well. I will only bring a few weak hands and smart remarks. I am good in making sure coffee and snacks are being served at regular intervals (cannot work without it).
Looking at pics 2 and 3, this shouts for an air-lifted trailing third axle. What I mean is cut a normal spring off just behind the middle where the wheel is. Fix the front of the spring as close as possible without interfering with the tandem. Then put air bellows-springs on the backward end...
Servicemen/woman having served in Europe AND/OR US Army Engineers Corps
The official excuse for owning our M51A2, Truck, Dump, 6x6, is that I will make it into an exhibition on the US Army Engineers Corps in Europe during the Cold War.
Please, I need pics and stories about this. ANY members...
Update on my travel plans.
Almost time to bite the bullet and order the flight tickets; don't dare too wait much longer. Still waiting for a few answers, but I am afraid they will not change much. How it looks now, unless something better comes up last minute:
- Flying directly into Atlanta...
LAST CALL FOR PART OF EAST BLOCK VEHICLES
I still maybe can manage to get smaller parts or documentation of East Block MVs like Tatra's, Praga, OT-810 halftracks, tanks, bikes, etc to the Rally. But I would have to know TODAY so I can get them tomorrow or on Saturday. Don't need to make a...
At the Rally, I have to figure out what I really need to restore our M51A2 and then balance $$ and weight and repair priorities. I have a 50 lbs limit, everything over costs me $150.
What I would like is mentioned below. Please understand that I cannot take firm decisions yet as per the above...
OK, technical post.
I worked my butt off the last few weeks (good "getting into shape" exercises) helping to get the workshop of our son reorganized. Once ready and secured, he can work on his larger projects and I can store the M51 there and finally start working on it. Its almost ready...
GA Rally update on steering
GA Rally update.
Drove around a few blocks on the meadow with the truck. Free play is acceptable, one side turning OK but not great, other side turning really still feels like washboard. I tried to get off the steering wheel with a heavy duty puller but only managed...
I had not seen the post by zout that he's not coming. If this continues, most of the people I am flying over to see might be dropping out and I will be standing there alone scratching my head.
Rest of the GA Maffia, you have to fill in on the empty spots and stop more liquidation of attendance...
I had a lot of problems finding this thread back until Clinto send me the link. That is why I posted my remarks in the main thread. Probably should have put it here as bump before that. .
