Not sure if anyone would be interested in attending, but this is a military vehicle (a rather LARGE one)...
Every year the USS Torsk SS-423 Submarine museum in Baltimore MD has a work weekend to perform regular maintenance on the boat, and install new parts for the boat's restoration. Lots...
I hear you - when I had my M416 trailer I bought in 1998 from Chambersburg DRMO, most every bolts had to be ground off or cut off, the trailer was 34 years old when I bought it, it must've sat in a salt pond or something during it's life. I replaced all the hardware with stainless so I never...
The problem some find is with the larger vehicles, there are only so many roads to go down there. powerhousedeuce is currently building a rock buggy to take there so he has more places to wheel on than he can with his 5-ton. Some get bored always doing the same trails (I don't, I love any...
Does anyone know if there is a NAPA part number for the U-bolts that attach the springs to the axle on the M416 trailer?
If not, I need the correct size for them to get them made up ASAP. Also, will need the Ubolts that attach the front frame rails to the bed (these are square U-bolts).
Whenever you're ready to put down the muscle cars and pick up the green iron again, we're here to welcome you back! There are many 10-tons out there waiting for your "touch"!
Go buy it for cheap and part it out. Some guys here do have them and can use the parts. Like I said, they suffer from rust, if we don't save parts when we can, they will all dissolve into the ground!
What's wrong with the bolts on your truck? Are they all bad? If they are good, leave them. No need to bankrupt yourself for that.
Let's just say, get a good estimate, and multiply by three. That will be the cost of the restoration. Restos are killer, very few can do it right and still...
I can speak from a little experience, but not a lot. I owned an M890 a while back, the 2WD version of the M880.
Full time 4WD. The transfer case is the NP203, a bulletproof unit.
They do have Gremlins. The Gremlins are rust-related, and in late-70s USA built vehicles, the gremlins were...
Glad to hear you're going, Chris! If you have any improvements that need to be done to your ERTLator truck, bring the materials and I'll gladly give you a hand!
God, I must be going nuts - I've been without my own MV for so long I suddenly want to wrench on other people's trucks!
I think it's a good idea - heck, I miss the days when DRMO was running the auctions, when $5 was the low bid! I won several items at $5 each lot, made me very happy. Anyways, I think it's a good business decision...
There are a few M48s and M60s in civvy hands. Not many. By the time they were too old for Uncle Sam to want, the demil requirements say they need to be cut up into tiny pieces. The ones in foreign countries are not allowed to come back in. Pending a future change in importation regulations...
