I had this issue a while back. See if you can do a search using my screen name and find it. I can tell you that Fleetpride and NAPA will be no help. I ended up getting mine from a private party that had some in stock.
Hummmmm.....how about a class action lawsuit? Or just fill out the standard "Butthurt Form 69" and move on. :naner::naner::naner:
If I had a dollar for every time I been injured by an MV I could finance another one.
Those hinges were designed by an idiot and built by morons. They are wretched inventions of the devil and exist to make men lose their religion. There is no good or easy way to remove them without severe blood, hearing, mental health or energy loss.
I agree with Gimpy.....replace rather than repair.
The original M915's (AM General cabs) used a commercial switch and they were a constant source of annoyance in the military and to those of us who purchased them from Uncle. On the Freightliner cabs they use the military switch we are all familiar with from the deuce and 5 tons.
The old...
When I was at Fort Benning in the late 80's the Marines came down to do gunnery in their LAV's. One of the MK-48's they had running ammo flipped going downhill resulting in a fatality. I followed a convoy of them down one of the range roads and they were all over the road when on paved surfaces...
The Boss Lady and I had a great time and it was good to see old faces and meet some new ones.
Thanks again to Dave and Deb for a great time and fantastic food.
Now to get ready for the GA Rally........WOO HOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Does anybody have a set of slave cables or just the ends for sale. The same guy that is interested in the AC units needs a set since I got him addicted to green iron. He now has 4 M915's, a M926, a fuel tanker trailer and a 4K rough terrain forklift. I'm da green iron pimp in this neck of the woods.
A few years ago I bought four deuces for a grand each through GL at Little Rock, AR. My buddy got another one out of that lot for 1200. I shipped two of them back and flat towed one back with the other one. My buddy followed me back in his. There were over fifty trucks in that sale at that...
I have the complete front spring set from a deuce and another almost complete set (springs and shackles but small items missing). If someone is bobbing a deuce I also have a M105 bed that has been blasted and painted (needs some small rust holes filled) and a set of new A3 tires and rims (4) and...
Welcome to the Green Iron Laughing Academy. :cookoo:
You don't have to be crazy to hang out here but it makes the assimilation much easier.
Attendance at the 2014 GA Rally is mandatory. Come over to the dark side......we have cookies. :wreckerman893:
You may also want to check out the CARB regulations regarding these trucks. You may have to put a new engine in it to meet the stringent requirements out there.
You might could get a new one from GL if you are not in a hurry. I saw a bunch of new ones sell pretty cheap out in Oklahoma recently. I bought a M926 a while back cheap enough that I could part it out and come out ahead since the engine, transmission and tires are all good. I have a transfer...
One of the first things I noticed when I was training on the HETT at Fort Stewart in 1995 was that the engine was so far under the cab that it was going to be a PITA to work on. I had several heated discussions with the Oshkosh trainers that had been sent down to give us the required 80 hour...
I'd look to replace the stock air cleaner with something less restrictive unless you are going to be in a dusty environment. There is not much you can do with the "Nifty 250". You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still going to oink.
Welcome to the wonderful world of Green Iron Addiction. :cookoo:
If it is not running I look at it as a parts vehicle until proven otherwise. I have bought a lot of vehicles from GL sight unseen and I only got one that had a bad engine (the M816 green money pit). I have also towed or...
