Not the same company, as stated a dozen times. The HMMWV is built by AM General, as was the Hummer H!. The goofy H2 and H3 are Hummer/GM. Who cares what happens to Hummer.
$1200 for IRACinc replica vs. $5500.00+ for semi. Replica: no worries where you go or who messes with it, one quarter the weight, doesn't matter if it sits in the rain. To some, a semi isn't real, anyway.
It was just announced the US Army will indeed be moving the Ft. Knox-based Patton Armor Museum to Ft. Benning, GA beginning Sept 2010. When the Armor Center anounced its move to Benning, it was stated the museum would stay at Ft. Know where it has been for 60 years. But they changed their minds.
Steel Soldiers has a large meet at Haspin every summer. 800+ acres of every kind of trail, hills, and mud know would be a fun place for a T-34 or BTR-40.

Good chance the 718's you see are in fact British-built models that are in wide service with all British forces. These were built in Guilford before the production was moved to South Africa after several corporate takeovers. The Land Rovers sound like the remaining Ranger RAV's(Ranger Assault...
Vespa is Italian, but the French Army apparently bought these. I think this had to be a consideration as a carrier for airborne forces. Of course I don't know if it is any sillier than our own US Army "Davy Crocket" 4 mile range with a 8 mile blast radius .5Kt. warhead
There is not and never will be a magic do-it-all vehicle. Even an M-1 can be blown off the road with a large enough IED (as with Merkavas in Israel), killing everyone inside. And unlike Iraq, a Road Turd will never win the fight. Some folks just don't seem to get it. You can't have it both ways.
Ryan is correct, it is not removable. He is correct about the poor brakes as well. Top speed is about 45mph, on a long flat surface. These were totally designed for urban tactics. Do not plan any off-roading.
You might start by using the right term. A Hummer is the civilian truck. The military uses a HMMWV, often pronounced Humvee. Many folks are very particular in terms. As for finding one, there are always some on Ebay under Military Vehicles. Conditions, models and price varies. Other sites...
In deep snow, just the ground clearance alone of the Deuce would easily give it the edge. Similar with the Pinzgauer and Unimog. With their high clearance and Portal Axles, deep snow is no problem.
Regarding 1:35 scale V-100 models, in case folks are not aware, Squadron Products offers a great V-100 decal set that includes Catch 22, War Wagon, Pig Power, The Vulture and others. Set #MS350001
