Just speaking from my own experience last November when I went to get a title at The Medina County tax office in Castroville, Tx. Had to go to Bandera County to get a title.
When you buy from GP, you are given the option to pay for just the bill of sale, or pay an extra $150.00 for the title. The GP title has "For Off Road Use Only" on it so this way you can take your bill of sale to a bonding company and have them give you an exempt title. I think once your stuck...
I must admit I am partly to blame for not doing more research. Just trusted this guy....lol...some years ago my captain repeated over and over...."trust, but verify."
That's what I'm thinking as the Texas dealer who sold it to me actually is paid by GP to hold pre-sold/auctioned military vehicles at his yard here in Texas.
There is no delivery date or re-set date on the data plate on the pillar. And GP did not list a year model for this vehicle at auctionn - they left it blank. The person who sold it to me is a Texas dealer. So...where did this 1998 come from....?
I think you comment about "buyer beware" is right on point. Also, this vehicle was not stolen....I actually found the original auction (GovPLanet) where it was listed with NO year model. GP does list items for sale without a model year. As far as me "attacking" your friend, I think your being a...
Thanx. At this point, anything I do will depend on how the seller responds. Going to law enforcement isn't really an option I want to persue as I don't know if the seller knowingly misrepresented the vehicle info to me. The title is a Bonded Texas title, so i am not worried that it might be...
I came here as a new member looking for advice. I was expecting something more from an individual who has been a member here so long. That's all. We can lighten up, but we can be both honest and seroius too I hope.
Thank you. Once I hear back from the seller, I will just flat out ask him what he thinks should be done. Put the ball in his court. 10 years matters no matter if the model is the same as newer units. That's 10 years of wear and tear, and/or just sitting out in the element.
I cared and figured it out. It's an honor thing. The reason why it's important is that I want to sell it and get another M1038A1. Can't knowing sell something on a lie. If I were you, I'd stick to giving advice to your dog.
I bought what I thought was a 1998 M998 HMMWV last month from a private individual. It has very low miles and a 6.5L with a TH400 Tranny. I noticed there was no "delivery date" on the aluminum info tags, so I did a little investigating (called a buddy at MMA - who used the serial number to...
Appreciate the info gentlemen......plan on traveling a lot in these and (already took the M1083 for a 300+ mile jaunt), and I guess as long at I keep up with the maintenance, I'll be fine.
