I had several I named after their condition: "Rusty" "Princess" "Weezer" "Drippy" and "Shiny"
I had several I gave girls' names: "Inara" "Kaylee" and "Jessica"
And my own personal deuce I named after a movie tough guy: "Jayne"
While at Coleman's today, in the back lot, there are a bunch of "clothing repair" trailer inserts, most are stacked up like cordwood but a couple were dropped into M101 trailers. They were rectangular inserts that had plenty of doors and storage compartments, you open them up and there are...
If it has to do with asbestos, I'm not sure anyone can give you 100% reliable information without some form of liability for breaking environmental remediation laws or OSHA regs. This is pretty unique territory, I wish you the best, but I fear noone here would give you suggestions without...
Sometimes redneck engineering is exactly what is needed for a good time! At the first Virginia rally in 2008, we threw a white tarp over Opie's M109, brought out a Honda EU super quiet genset, a laptop computer hooked to a digital projector, and we watched Kelly's Heroes on the side of his...
Sam, the one I had sold to a gent in NC is still at his place and still in the same condition I sold it to him in 2008. He's got it for sale now as well, so if you want info on the truck, let me know. Would like to see it eventually get to a good home that will finish it up.
Some more M715s...
There's a Russian tank company called Tanks, Trucks and Armoured Military Sale. - Mortar Investments that specialize in the ComBloc stuff. A friend of mine poked around and they are the real deal. Check them out for what they have.
Be advised, everyone wants a tank. But owning one, even one...
I KNOW they have one of them. I don't think I'll have the $$$ for that purchase, though. Plus, once I get it how are you to receive it? Might be easier for you to go yourself, pull the part and pay Colemans for it, you're in NJ so you're not too far from there.
I've seen period photos of those trailers with road tires on them. The road tires are $250-300 in price, NDT tires are around $360 ea. It's expensive, but a restoration for show would require them eventually.
Nice trailer! They are getting harder to find in nice shape, I've seen some...
I've had Vietnam vets get a tear in their eye when they saw my display at the Gilbert PA show past few years. Always great to get a good emotional reaction for your efforts to preserve their history and honor them in the process.
I would've given him $500 for that. And I'm sure some here would've outbid me. Maybe next time....
To paraphrase a movie quote I remember, we save what we can and the wolves get the rest.
This is why it's so important to save what we all can, whenever we can. To save it for future...
I may be bringing some Hardigg cases to see if someone would like to give a new home for them. They are too big for me to list on eBay and they are taking up room in my shed so maybe someone there will purchase a couple of my "orphans".
Marcus - I think there are some junk CUCVs in the yard with the doors intact.
michigandon - sure thing. Last I was there he still have a couple.
Jakelc15 - will add it to the list...
LAST CALL for anyone who wants me to find stuff for them. The trip is on for Wednesday the 11th. Going...
In Vietnam, we had air supremacy, we had state-of-the-art weapons, we had high-tech of the day coming out our ears. We used SE Asia as a testbed for every new combat device idea we could come up with, and in the end we were losing the war against an enemy that for the most part, couldn't read...
