Very cool, please post a lot more pics of the restoration when you get there. Those trailers are very useful and getting rarer in good shape (and for decent price) every year.
Well, got back from another trip there - hot as heck again, sweating to death in the 101 degree heat and 90% humidity, but I got the rest of the CUCV antenna guards I could find, a 6-step boarding ladder for another member, some bows and staves for deuce/5-ton bed, and something I'm really...
I think your cruzer would be much better with a body. And wheels on the trailer. Might improve the chances of you actually getting there in, well, an actual solid object. :)

This is a neat thread, great ideas here!
The storms are supposed to start in the later afternoon - I'll be there at 0900 and be gone by 1330 or so. Should miss it, but it will still be hot as heck all day long. Sweat is the price I pay to pick around in a military junkyard.
Anyone need anything? The pics of what they have are...
There is a story on a fullsize Moab offroad expedition in the newest Four Wheeler magazine. In addition to a really nice M37 with a maintenance body, it shows a full size M715 with a bobbed bed, the caption mentions it will be the subject of a future feature article detailing the build.

One thing you haven't said is if the owner is asking a price at the moment.
If he's looking for offers, I'd say start at $300 and work up. NICE M416 trailers bring $800-1000 nowadays. This is not nice. It's not BAD, but it needs a lot of TLC.
I'd say $20K to $25K, deuces aren't worth their weight in gold, but you do have a lot of time and workmanship invested in that truck. I would not sell it for less than $20K. On the other hand, there is a guy on ebay selling one like that one for $60K or so, I think that is way out of line.
Steve, thanks for all your hard work on the trails! Wish we could get our hands on some defoliant or Agent Orange to keep the weeds at bay. Sounds like they are growing as fast as you are cutting them....
One thing I would strive to do building a camping trailer would be that most of the gear would be ruggedized. Most everything I buy is surplus anyways, so mostly things that are mil-spec or actual military contract stuff would be used, with few exceptions. Military gear lasts longer, can take...
When it came to filling the tank, I always did this simple method. Tank fully, then drive 200 miles. Time for fuel. How much did I really need? Well, remember - DON'T TRUST THE FUEL GAUGE, they are 1940s technology and are rarely correct. I always figured 50 gallon tank in the deuce x 8 mpg...
