Torque Rod removal - remove the tires?

Anyone know the right size wrench for that nut? I measure it as either a 2 1/4 or 2 5/16. So much paint, can't tell. The brackets look to be 1 3/8, right?

Torque Rod removal - remove the tires?

Starting a new thread as most of the old ones were the Deuce, and I don't want to confuse anyone. I have seen difference in the torques between the Deuce and the M939 (and even the wrecker gets something different). The TM ( TM 9-2320-272-23-3, WP 0544) states to start with the tires removed...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Replaced the LQ2, Then went to take the big guy to enter it in a car show, and a torque rod blew out on the way home. Was braking at a stop light, luckily only going about 10 mph. Scary feeling. Back end felt like it was sliding out (the middle axle was twisting).. Got it through one more...

    Plastic air lines

3/8 mostly on my 925., although 1/4 on some near gauges. I'd take fittings apart first to make sure. Sucks to be without the right fitting and no truck...

    M939 Inconsistent air pressure...

Definitely do the COLA test. Definitely air the truck up, I'd suggest without it running, it's easier to hear. Do so through the emergency glad-hand. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthr...xternal-source I just had a similar but more straightforward experience, it was venting through the...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Well, today was not a great 'progress on the truck' day. #1 - Not all LQ-2 parts are made alike. I took the advice (and warning) of a thread on here and ordered the EXACT part number. Well, it turns out that the outputs are 1/4" instead of 3/8". I know I could have reduced them, but it would...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Power steering cocktail I had to get some of the power steering fluid out of the reservoir. It was coming out of the top of the filter. After a trip to Home Creepo and forgetting a syringe or a turkey baster, I run to the convenience store to get a straw, and do the finger over the end trick...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Venting Air through the stack So I also ran into another problem that day. After finding the coolant leak, I back the big guy into it's garage, and because I'm a bit new, I'm on the brake more than I should. But with a normal backup, I drop the pressure fast. Too fast. Down to 40 on both...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Coolant Leak Had to title and register it. Having a "fun" time with DMV at the moment. And missed the Colorado collector plates by a change in law. I had to get the emissions done (What?) for part of the process and went to a heavy duty truck shop. 3.5 Hrs later, they had it out. I got the...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Visit to BFR and Recovery of an M934A2 Thanks! I did a recovery of an M934A2 with the seller in TX a couple of weeks ago. He got a drained one, and had it hauled to a truck place, and they were supposed to get all the fluids in. We flew in with a starter as they thought it had a bad one...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Changing the tire In subsequent visits to the truck, I would learn a bit more and then get to check them out. He popped the roof a bit, it was caved in, and it came out great. It was stored in that tent for months so it was not getting wet,. We did later drive it in the rain, and the roof...

    Therooster2001's M925A2 build thread

Howdy all. Figure I'd document the journey on a build thread. I'll be backlisting some things to make it chronological. I'll try to fill it up with searchable titles, part numbers and picts to help those out, just like others have helped me. I decided I wanted to get an M939, but the A2...

    Canopy orientation

Thanks. So this is the way I have it, this webbing to the front. Question is what do they tie down to?

    Canopy orientation

I have a new cover for my M925A2 and have tried it both directions. I thought the bow straps at one end made sense in the front, but I can't seem to find a good front and back. There is a difference in the tie downs on the ends. What direction are these supposed to face?

    Hard Tops vs Soft Top

I smell the Harbor. Thanks for reviving the thread, it gave me another option. HF has (4) 2ft square for $10. Might try these out.. good idea and thanks for the picts.

    Titling a truck in Colorado?

OK people, unless I am misunderstanding the new regulations, we are now set back to 32 years old, not 25! SO, the 1990 M925A2 that I thought would be $400 + taxes / 5 years is now $600/year based off weight. I don't know when they changed the laws (EDIT: It was Sept 09), but the latest (Nov...

BFR Metals, Salina Kansas, a Goodie Hole

Glenn, we just made it home. Thanks for the hospitality and the parts! We spent about 6 hours in the lot on a very sunny and hot Kansas day. I never knew it was so much work pulling parts. Glenn still has some A2's with lots of goodies on them. And lots of other M923 A0 / A1's with good...

    M923a2 Battery issue

Sorry to hear you're stuck. Reminder to those reading along. Solargizers are not battery chargers, and of course as Rob noted, they only work when in the sun. They just use the pulse technology that just prevents sulfation of the battery, which will kill the cell when too much builds up. I...

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Nice polish on those lights.. Was that just cleaning or did you use a headlight refinisher?

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

Kroil cleans tools, penetrates, and does a job like no other. It also makes your camera stand unstable and makes your feet irresistible to dogs. There are always trade offs....
