Ha! Yeah there will be challenges to this like a power cable for the intercom. I'm just going to plug it in and buy the cables as I see that I need them.
I could have gotten away with an aviation set much cheaper but I decided the military look was worth it.
I just found this thread, and being a glutton for punishment (dallas to Big Bend and back in da Cinco) I was thinking about it. Is this an open group or by invite only?
Who all is going at this point?
How many days in the park?
Is there a route schedule that I missed?
The date is one in...
Well, I'm just going to buy it all and if it doesn't work return it. Even the vendor of one of the items had no idea what plugs to what and where. I think they bought them at GL and googled the part number and said, "Oh, ok, these are $Xx that's what I'll sell these things for."
After a while I get comparison blindness and want to forget the idea all together. So, I bought two Raptors, and one cable. Now, I am committed.

Looks like that will plug...
Ok, back to the Raptor for a second. I do like that option.
In the info, it states that the Raptor works with the following intercoms:
Note, no VIC-1 mentioned. However, TOCNET is mentioned and I found one but ... will it work? Is it the right TOCNET?
Tell me more about this "savvy shopping" that got you into 4 of these on the cheap? I like those. They seem very handy.
I have a big shooting range on the ranch. Would be really nice to communicate to someone downrange (out to 1600 yards) fixing a target or maybe talk to the house or whoever I...
There seems to be tons of options, but I am starting to lean more toward a military style setup. I think it would just fit the whole truck theme better.
Does someone have a VIC-1 with or without cables for sale?
The Raptor's are reasonably priced. I may go this route. What else (exactly) do...
Id be just as happy with a military system as with something else. But nobody has given any military options. I was not in the military, so I don't know much about what is out there.
My buddy was a tanker, I saw his helmet one day, Bose headphones. Yeah, I'd take that in a heartbeat. Looked...
Rugged radios do look nice, I could probably get in one of their low end models for $400. They had some closeout stuff that was around that price. But, I'm starting to get close the cost of just buying a low end or used David Clark for me and an eBay special for the passenger :) That is a...
Cool. Just like in Talledega Nights!
Thats a good idea actually. They could be used for so many other things around the ranch too. Thanks.
I did get a PM from one guy on an aviation intercom system. Looks like I can pick up a used one for $100 or more, if I choose to get nicer ones. I guess...
Since there are bound to be 100 different kinds out there, what would you look for? Bose would be great, but I don't know what $ I'm getting into there. Maybe there are some affordable models? Can a good quality set (2 units and the intercom "unit") be had for $300? $400?
Price is always a...
I ordered 50' of 7/12 and a male and female RV plug. I'll replace the 8 pin on the bar with the 7 pin RV. I'll wire a jumper harness to the other 7-pin RV plug, but I need a 12 pin male/trailer side plug. I could pinch one off of one of my trailers, but, I'd rather not. Anyone have a spare just...
Yeah, but I bought this fancy new tow light and I want to use it!!!
Good info anyway.
"Officer, I don't know why the turn signals don't work????"
I'm sure nobody has ever used that line!
Well, I think I'm going to buy a long piece of that 7/12 and fab up a 7 pin to 12 pin jumper. Swap...
That's pretty helpful! Good find, thank you. If someone has one wired up, that they will part with (or even rent out) pm me.
The different 8 pin configuration does worry me. Don't need to spend more time than necessary making this work.
I am still wondering, wouldn't wiring a standard 7 pin...
One idea I had was to simply swap out the 8 pin for a 7 pin. I can easily find male and female 7 pins for nothing, and 7 wire cable as well.
Two of these 8 pins are ground wires, so my simple math says that 7 pin plug should work.
That was one idea, the wires do have the number tags on them, the numbers change as the go through the wiring on the unit itself, but I can figure it out. I don't even have a plug to splice them in to. Which is one problem.
Don't know where this goes, but since I'm pulling a 5-ton with a 5-ton, seems here is as good as any.
Being the military, I am sure they wrote a TM for this tow light. But I can't find anything. Specifically, looking for the diagram on wiring for this 8 pin plug.
Where do you find an 8 pin...
