I had a similar problem with my 5-ton. First, wrong gasket, then not tight enough.
I will replace all the oil again next spring, to get rid of sludge, probably will use some sealing agent as well. Having lost all oil in a short time makes me very nervouse, scared it will happen again while...
This is what I had in mind with my 5-ton. Wil not happen this year  did not get her ready in time. Hope there will be other winters??? Next year I'll be prepared.
Checked the other threads and found a very usefull document on the person carrying capacity of our trucks - thanks BigBee. The full pdf version is under the resources-technical manuals here It is the last item on that page, under number TB 9-639.
If nothing else, show this paper to your...
The military made those seats facing sidewards, which is the best way for quickly getting out.
For more regual transport, I would install my own seats and make them facing forward. You can adapt or make some nice-looking imitation troop seats like that or even install some old ones from a...
:ditto::ditto:
Ready to post there as well.
Then again, a lot of Deuce people modding (not hot-rodding) are trying to incorporate 5-ton stuff and ideas to their Deuce, while we already have all the great stuff, right?
It seems the off-road is at different times than the highway work, not part of it. So get both. Get am M- 915 or a civi OTR tractor (what does OTR stands for?) for the highway work. Use the 915 for the hauling and the 813 for fun, off-road and hunting.
If you want to go further away with the...
Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I posted on it in a separate thread, maybe more people have this problem or will get it later. Suggestions how to correct please post there.
One I figure out how to correct it, I will check all my pictures and correct the problem.
From another thread a remark on how my pictures appeared.
To my knowledge, I always did the same procedure. However, in the same thread, earlier pictures were attached as thumbnails and later pictures as full images you can't enlarge.
No idea how I managed that. Checked with mangus' post on...
Great, we can start a local chapter and organize some events (or at least share experiences). Would be interesting to get a quote on how much shipping would cost.
The winter and summer diesel is doen automatically by the companies throughout Europe, mostly as of late October or early November...
I sometimes wonder where to post as well. I think the 5-ton forum gets less repsonses but they are mostly on topic, less admiring remarks.
On the other hand, purely my gut imagination, mayby completely wrong, but I sometimes have the feeling that a lot of Deuce people skip the 5-ton forum, or...
I am leaving today for the Czech Repblic, so no time today. However, if you cannot get those details in the USA, I might try through Commerce here (see thread oldies selling oldies). Not sure if the European filter numbers are any good in the USA and maybe they made a different version for the...
When aprking for the winter, do people take specail precautions regarding the fuel in the lines?
Normally, we have winter and summer diesel here. Mine still has summer diesel, but I will not be using it anymore until April. Should I take any specail precautions?
Title says it all, except: how manby liters in the LSD 465 - 1a?
Making the truck ready a?for winter, no idea if the previous owner ever put anti-freeze there. Temps almost never go below 15 Fahrenheit here along the Dutch North Sea cost. Any modern car anti-freeze will do I suppose?
OK, we started check the steering. Right turn is no problem, left turn looks like no power steering at all and something is blocking it, very difficult, some "bumps when turning the wheel. More specific, when the wheels are full right, going to the middle is doable but going beyond the middle...
OK. We maybe have it fixed. Went to these commerce guys. They had a brand-new LDS 465 1A sitting on the shelf (4 meters above the ground). They took it down and we discussed possibilities. End result: it can only be the filter housing and gasket.
So we cleaned it again, fastened it again...
