Where do I find either a used starter for the M35a2 to rebuild or a rebuilt starter?
With the recent problems, it is a matter of time before replacement.
When you check with the license people, you will find you do not have to inspect the truck. You also can use the hood markings as the 'license plate' in Texas.
Funny, but I have never been stopped by the police for inspection stickers, license plates or any reason at all. They must think it is...
David was shocked! Well, so was I. The motor kicked in like it was new.
I suppose at some point the starter will have to be replaced. But, not for a while it appears.
Earlier today I was posting my frustration on getting the M35a2 started. FreightTrain suggested using a hammer to 'tap' the starter while cranking. Bingo!
Started like a champ. David is out riding around showing off once again. :D
Thanks for the tip guys.
Oh, and I mentioned this BFH...
OK, got the mystery solved today. The bolts are 1 inch long 3/8 fine thread. I finally got a 3/8 fine thread tap and cleaned out the mess. Worked fine.
Now I have to take one of the legs to the welder for some remedial work, minor.
The next item will be the installing of the reinforcing...

I need to know what size bolts hold the front leg socket to the body and what if mine are simply rusted out.
The truck had the leg socket, but it was removed a long time ago.
My former M35 batteries coughed it up this week. So, I got to working on replacements. I found 6TL at O'Reilly's for $135 and figured they were a good enough deal.
When I got to removing the batteries the connectors were in poor shape. So, I thought, why not O'Reilly's again? Sure enough...
Probably six months ago here. I was intrigued but we could never figure out where they were. Now you know and know what they are.
Many good parts, a long way from home, however.
After seeing pics on this site of deuces on the road to Amarillo, I kept a close watch on Friday.
At Vernon, south side of 287 there are two deuces and a five ton. All gassers. One M35 manufactured in 1952, one M135 made in 1952 and a five ton gasser made in 1952. All are in rough shape but...
