So I just got some 1100x20 tire chains for my deuce in preparation for winter. Given that I might need to take them ON and off, I was wondering if anyone had ideas for storage for tire chains on our trucks low down with out having to scramble into the bed repeatedly.
I love it when Beuracrats blink like that.
I had the same issue with getting the Non-Commercial Class A. They kept saying "you HAVE to be a firefighter or farmer". "No" I'd say, "that USUALLY who gets those license. Anyone can get them." I eventually sent a letter to the State AG's office...
What about the 4 wheel 5 and 7 ton trailers for Engineering plant and hardware. They're lower to the ground and are capable of the weight (depending on the size of the dozer).
Well leverage was helping him. Look at his attachment point. It's up on the track. That's pretty high. What may have helped would have been to add a stiff leg at the tracks and routing the cable up and over to a higher point. Though he'd then not be able to take advantage of a block to get more...
I have a pressure regulator added to the air line fitting on the glad hand. A Quick disconnect is on there too. I can set the PSI, snap on a valve stem chuck and start it airing up while I walk away. I usually adjust it up by 10 psi to account for the pressure drop through the system.
I would expect that a set of skidplates for the diffs, axles and transfer cases would have to be BLOODY thick. IF you mount them a hinged mount would make things FAR easier to accomplish.
Byrdo, I'm glad the Code Enforcement Administrator saw the light. The ones I have weren't so sagacious. They construed that ANY large vehicle was a Commercial Vehicle and that was the same "business vehicle" which was the legal term which was the restricted class of vehicles for my Building...
I towed an M818 with my Deuce earlier this spring. I towed it down my main road and took a 3 turns. That was it. I would NOT want to do this a long distance. I'd prefer to have the M818 towing another 5 ton, not with a deuce. Braking was good but things were just oddly unsettling. Mind you, I've...
Chris, an intercooler also lowers the air charge's temperature with the effect that if you do NOT increase the boost pressure you have lower piston/combustion chamber temperatures. Lack of an intercooler made some aircraft designs anemic with an otherwise good performing engine due to the...
A bitt of heat. Get an impact hammer and have someone hammer on the housing while you tap the shaft out with a hammer. Put a bolt on the shaft to keep from buggering the threads.
Once you think you have them sorted out, drive slowly to an area where you can test the brakes. Stand on them HARD. Then slowly drive forwards or backwards where you have some slowing room, accellerate and then stop HARD. Do this a few times to REALLY test the system. See if all wheels are...
