I think the velcro lining up problem is with the tops. All the GMA tops i've ever used were OK.

Do not sandblast it. I'd break out the sander and remove them (may as well start the repaint while your at it).

The way to do them is to clamp them in, draw lines in the middle of the ribs where the rivets go, them remove it, drill all holes in the plate, put it back in, drill all holes through the cab, cleco it in, then set the rivets.

I woulda thought under a minute a rivet? They are great to mount stuff to.

Did you measure it or just add shims till you think it's fixed? Anytime you install a starter you need to measure the clearance between the starter gear and the flexplate (think it's like .02-.06). You'd have to verify those numbers in the -20. Anytime maintenance is done on a MV it should be...

You couls also put in a sheet metal screw to just catch the lip on the front of the bow to hold it in.
