*sigh* too much going on this month. I have a VMMV event up in Virginia to go to. A friend is getting his Daimler Armoured car into the US. And we'll have something like 5 or 6 dingos at the event.

MODERN?
Cab overs are NOT new. At all. Heck the US even had a COE version of the 4 and 5 ton trucks, both as cargo haulers and as semi tractors.

The M1022s fit the 8' sea containers But you're limited on load capacity. Check the load ratings on it, but you'll NOT be able to load a fully loaded container and safely carry it on one of those M1022 mobilizers. Also, most containers are 8'6" tall. Which is where you'll need an M1022A1...
And I just checked around, here's one for sale, purchased new for $300. So $295 is WAY too much for one that's used and somewhat beat up.

I went by Hodge Army Navy this weekend and there's a Deuce for sale there. It's a straight A2 Cargo truck with shabby paint. Apparently, traded to a car dealership across the street and they got permission to park it outside Hodge with "for sale" signs on it. Price is listed as $5500.

A smart Gyrene would have painted over those numbers.
A smarter Swabbie would have stolen one mule, damaged the numbers (scuff them on both sides) then parked it at ANOTHER unit's area which also had mules, then stolen one of those. 1st set of guys sees they're missing a mule, reports it...
I try to keep up with regular maintenance. Since I started doing that, I don't have failures of minor components that leave me on the side of the road for want of a belt or a hose or something. Usually it's a matter of just checking things, keeping things clean and knowing the vehicle.
There's always the 1/2 M113. the Canadian Lynx. That IS based on M113 parts and has 4 roadwheels.

Well, Bjorn is running WVO AND Biodiesel. AND he does oil analysis pretty often. I'd expect he'd have seen something on his cross country trip if this was typical.
