Actually there's another. The mushroom on the fording kit uses a smaller diameter mushroom that is taller on the sides of the mushroom "cap". Also the tube where it slides isn't 4"ID, it's 4" OD tubing.
It's usually oak. If I remember right the original supplier (of composite) is Stephan wood Products. Do a search on here, there's a link with contact info.
Really, within spec? Where does it say that? The military does under rate vehicles. I would personally pull a 101 (in a M1009) with maybe 500-750 lbs in it but 1500 is way pushing it. The bumper hitch also has nothing to do with the manuals recommendations as both the M1008 and M1009's have...
Yep, MACCUS and I looked at that one in August or so. There's another complete one just north of Torrington parked in the weeds, also some parts trucks off I-25 south of Casper.

The correct trailer for the M1009 is the M416. It also has a max weight of 1200 lbs behind the blazer. This is found in the -10 manual. The M101 series trailers are for the rest of the CUCV series. Expect to pay 800-1200 for a really nice one.
There is a special master cylinder bracket used with the split mc. Also there is more to the system than just mounting a different master cylinder. There's a whole manual that shows how it's done and it won't be cheap.
