I used an extra turbo elbow (turbo flange cut off), two 3.5" radius elbows, a stick of 3.5" exhaust tubing, and two exhaust clamps. I had to dimple the pipe next to the e-brake but it otherwise fits nicely. I just need to add a muffler and tail pipe.
I did a multifuel swap a few months ago and am still running 3/8" rubber hose for fuel lines. I'd like to move to something more permanent but, even after numerous searches, the best solution is not clear. Several posts on SS suggest that airbrake line can be used but it is not officially...
I traded labor and a snow plow for a good deal on an LDT-465-1C engine and radiator and swapped it for my 400 Reo this weekend. The multi is a MUCH tighter fit than the gas engine. Operating in the same RPM range, pretty close to the 400 gas. Hoping to increase it a bit with more fuel and...
While looking for a multi radiator, I have noticed that a large portion of radiators have loose lower tank mounts. I found a nice radiator and would like to keep it that way. Any suggestions on why they fall apart? Vibration due to low idle speed or ???
I am helping a friend refit a civilian generator with a multifuel engine and need to know the number of teeth on the ring gear for the speed sensor. It is too far assembled to take it apart to count.
I have searched and read the TMs but want to be sure....
The LD and LDT and LDS all have piston squirters. Only the LDS has the channel to cool the top ring. Correct?
I bought a MF grill/ cover for my gas truck only to find that the MF is an inch taller and that the side covers are correspondingly different (the gas side covers taper toward the front whereas the MF are straight). Why was this done? Was it done to fit the MF in a gas truck? What other...
I downloaded a paper from the SAE "Development of Multifuel Features of the LD-465 and LDS-465 Military Engines". It describes the evolution of the LDS-427 into the later LD(s)-465-1,2. One of the more interesting statements was this: "Work has continued for further performance increases, in...
I had occasion to see a number of LDT multifuel crankshafts out of the block. The number of counterweights and overall design varied. Anybody have any details of why or when these changes were made?
The White Motor Company developed, under contract to the Army, their own multifuel engine in 1958 using the Reo V-8 engine platform. It used a precombustion chamber and a spherical main combustion chamber. "Even at -36F, the engine started with gasoline or diesel fuel the moment the starter...
I have one of the 1.5kW generators with the 2 cylinder engine. It is a bear to start cold (apparently common) and is obnoxiously loud. It is also quite large for it's power output. Based on my experience with it and it's lack of a circuit breaker, the output is intentionally limited by the...
Anybody know a source for 8 inch headlight/ spotlight housings? I bought a pair of Q4559 600W aircraft landing bulbs cheap on ebay and would like to put them on my deuce. Identical to a regular 7 inch sealed beam headlight just one inch larger and ten times the output.
I just want to preface this by saying that I did do a search before posting. :-D
I had the misfortune of a dead battery in my bobbed deuce over the holidays. One battery was OK, the other was dead. They are about 4 years old. I managed to get it to take a charge. After getting the truck...
I have a bobbed gas powered M35. I have a distributor with a tach drive and the accompanying tachometer. Works fine but needs some kind of bracket. Does this bracket have built in lighting? Does anyone have one of the under dash tachometer brackets that they would like to sell? What are the...
I spent the last week swapping out my OA331 for a completely overhauled later model OH200 engine. The OH200 is a later generation gas engine incorporating numerous improvements over the OA331:
Larger mains (3.125") and rods journals (2.30") with hardened journals.
Larger oil pump (15 vs...
I am looking for a fan to fit a deuce gas engine with four bolt holes. The multifuel fan looks like it might work. Can someone measure the hub pilot diameter, bolt circle diameter, and overall fan diameter? Thanks.
