    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

Many if not all of the of the radios used by larger agencies are heading this way. Many manufacturers have proprietary implementations of the same function or feature, while ITU RFCs are trying to bring things together, there is no real incentive right now for radio companies to adopt open...

    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

I had to tweak the Asterisk conference feature to support this method - the ROIP by default uses VOX for TX control, so even sending comfort noise or background noise would trigger the ROIP to key the radio. The PTT feature here is basically a hot key for a short term un-mute of only one...

    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

Again, there is a time cost for me if I do that (unless I want to start hiring people to do that). I would only consider it for local events/groups, and then only if I'm familiar with them (and like them enough to let them use my gear ).

    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

Phone would be provisioned with a line and account for Radio use, and radios and bands would be programmed as "speed dial" extensions (each radio would get its own ROIP-102): When you want to access a radio, you push the "speed-dial" button for that radio/band - which connects the phone to the...

    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

There is a possibility of that yes. Early thought was CERT/SAR, I'd be trying to focus on local agencies (Police/Fire) rather than state/federal since they would have bigger budgets. I'll also be talking to the people who run the clan booth at the Scottish Games about loaning the tent and an...

photobucket giving me fits, venting and testing.

I think the size cap here is 64kb. If you have MS Office on your computer, try right clicking the image icon whereever it is, and see if an "open with Office" option is there. If so click it. In the picture drop down there is an option for "compress", and once you click it, on the right side...

    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

Phones came last night, figured I'd wait until I could power one on to take a picture: These are VoIP six-line phones, 4-soft buttons (below the screen), 7-programmable function buttons, and customizable XML screens and applications. One thing I've been playing with is making one of the...

Question about HMMWV paperwork and what it really means ?

The arguement I have scene the most is the "not fmvss compliant" one. Since the hmmwv was designed to minimum military standards, it is missing thing like a backup light, rear reflectors, and the >80" 3-light ID bar front and back. That is all I am aware of.

Getting my M1009 ready for road trips!

You do know that on engines with intake pre-heaters or glow plugs you should not use starting fluid right? (boom)

Getting my M1009 ready for road trips!

Yeah, I've had an Optima battery blow up from an internal dead short. Their quality in the last 7 years took a turn for the worst. for about the same money as an Optima, you can get a group 31 Odyssey in "sears dress" (platinum marine sealed) I've had four Optima batteris die in unpredictable...

    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

Shipping is booked via uShip for the two tents, scheduled for next week pickup - weirdly it was about $100 cheaper to ship these two, than it was to ship the first... This morning I unboxed the side-to-end coupler which is in great shape. I also received the two 10.1-inch "preview" screens for...

    Forward Operating Base In-a-Can

Tents are ready for pickup in PA, waiting on uShip bids... Nearly there - looks like I get a few extra power harness wires and some lights in the deal. Some things are missing like the repair kits (and the floor and an end on the 305), but I've ordered a few of those parts from e-place which...

Custom Making LED Light Bar for M939

12Ga is right on the threshold for 420W @ 24VDC, dual 12Ga left/right half, or take out the floods on the side and do spot and flood power rails to reduce the current would be recommended. Normally we use 300 circular mils/amp and less than 1/2V (0.5V) drop (loss) over the wire for safety. At...

Custom Making LED Light Bar for M939

Hopefully its not a resonance or oscillation do to the count of LED regulators. If that's the case however, you can always add capacitors to the inputs for each board and inductors to the supply lines to cut down on the AC component on the power rail. I've also found that cheap un-shielded...
