LDS VS LDT and the real differences

The second oil squirter does not reduce EGT by 100F. Right from Continental's literature: "Oil is circuiated through the annulus to reduce the temperature of the ring groove and thereby eliminate the requirement for high additive oil..." "This piston cooloing development has resulted in an...

lds wastegate turbo on an M35

Perhaps, "lug" was a poor choice of words. Do you have first hand experience with this turbo which suggests no improvment over the C/D?

1952 M135 Converted to standard shift.....

Assuming that you still have the 302... The 302 was available with two different bellhousing sizes over its production run: one with an 11 or 11.5" clutch and one with a ~14 inch clutch. If you have the small one, you can use a flywheel cover off of anything chevy or gmc pickup to 2.5 ton. I...

lds wastegate turbo on an M35

Both. I was the lone bidder at $79 on ebay. It was mis labeled as an LDT turbo. Between work, school, family, and the fact that my truck is 2 hours away, it is hard to get much done on it. Very much looking forward to your results. I don't agree. Ken posted that the increased boost at...

lds wastegate turbo on an M35

Got it in the mail today. It appears much bigger than the C or D turbo; wish I had one to compare with right now. The inlet is 3.5" anybody know the input size of the C or D? I seem to remember that the intake tube on the deuce necks down at the turbo? The outlet seems like it is...

    removing the governor?

The 2300 is the large base Holley 2bbl series. The 4412 is the 500cfm model. I would suggest getting the 2300 series 320cfm ecnoomaster. It is similar to 350cfm but has better wagonwheel boosters, two stage power valve, and reverse idle ciruit. I used this on my 331 Reo and it vastly...

    removing the governor?

I cannot say with any certainty that either has dyno'ed this combination. However, based on conversations with Clifford, this engine is outside of their main business focus. It is, however, EXACTLY what Patricks specializes in. But, I could be wrong; ask Clifford or Tom for ANY dyno results...

    removing the governor?

Neither Clifford nor Tom have dyno'ed this combination and are guessing at what kind of increase you will get. I posted REAL numbers and the kind of increase you are expecting required more than an intake/exhaust swap. Patrick Dykes will tell you that you the same thing that he told me many...

    removing the governor?

To give you some numbers from "GMC Speed Manual" written by Bill Fisher (1955): 165 to 185 horsepower using: large valves, 3/4 race camshaft, dual carbs, 8.5:1 compression, and stock exhaust. 195 to 225 horsepower using: large valves, full race camshaft, three carbs, 8.5 to 9:1 compression...

    removing the governor?

I have had three 302 powered vehicles in my live and lived and breathed them for over a decade. It is REALLY hard to get horsepower out of GMs old engines. It doesn't matter what you spend, money does not equal horsepower. A high flow intake and exhaust do little good when you are limited to...

    removing the governor?

Take the 50 to 70 HP with a grain of salt. A 70 HP gain would be a ~54% increase and you WILL NOT see that with any bolt on equipment on a abysmally low compression engine with limited rpm range. IMHO and experience, you are wasting your money. Here are some 302 buildup notes. Note what...

    Deuce power steering conversion

Yes, but it is actually easier to remove the pitman arm from the box, IMHO.

    Deuce power steering conversion

My pitman arm is 8.5" long and works fine. It is a compromise of steering force and turns ratio. Make sure that you get the 1500 psi box to maximize the force. The only real drawback is that it does not move through its full range of motion to open the relief valves at the end and let trapped...

    removing the governor?

There is a small (your carb) and a large size (2300 series). The adapter mates the two. I do not know how the carb relates to shifting.

    Deuce power steering conversion

I had a custom sleeve made which uses common off the shelf tie rod ends. The pitman arm is whatever came on the box (Ford).

    removing the governor?

The originals went in a box of parts with two 331 engines that I sold awhile ago.

    Deuce power steering conversion

The 5-ton pump uses an external reservoir. I suggest a reservoir off of a larger truck (Mack, et al) which has the built in filter. Ross recommends a 50 micron filter for the HF54.
