When you are talking about #3 and #4 wires please give me a reference. I am learning as I go. Our city mechanic is great, but i have to do the research on this stuff before I get it to him as he is swamped and needs the help. Thanks!
I think we are going to move the CTIS to the end of the list (which isn't to long) but will end up looking at getting it working in the near future. I will keep everyone posted with the status as well as photos of what we find and/or do. ;)
Well we are in the process of swapping our old M35A2's hard top with our new M35A3's hard top. Got the soft top and hard top off easy enough and the soft top went onlt the A2 without any problems. I had a couple of questions, though.
#1 The angle bracket that was on the A3 with the soft top...
Ok, so the starter is coming off tomorrow and we are going to get it rebuilt..althought it has been starting just fine. However, as was said before this thing needs to be reliable.
This weekend we are going to tackle swapping the soft top on our A3 for the hard top on our A2 (VFD has to get...
Well this starter issue...grrr. We need something that is reliable lol. The deuce is starting just fine now, but since I had the issues with her cranking up I have it in the back of my mind that she won't work when I need her to. Any suggestions? Still leaning toward the solenoid unless...
Thanks for the response.
First off, is the tranny an MT643 by Allison? I was aware of the rebuild and what they did, but I didn't even think to change the filter and fluids from the engine oil they use in there (go figure). Thats a good idea, but first I need to identify the tranny. What do...
Well and update. I went out today to go look at the possibilty of the neutral switch and she started on the first try. Today it is about 50 degrees and the other day when it was cold it was about 35 degrees or so. Maybe that solenoid...unless you think of something else.
Regarding the air...
I guess what I am looking for is what exactly it entails with specific parts. I don't have the -40 series service manuals (yet). I know it is not as simple as putting a tall air intake and jumping into the water. I will say, however, the following is a pretty cool setup...
Ok, so I have read the manual and our M35A3 does NOT have the fording kit installed. If we wanted to purchase one (whether it be aftermarket or not), how would we go about doing it and what all would it entail to install?
Hays County? Have youbeen to the CAF Museum in San Marcos? We have an old Jeep that is being restored in with the aircraft (P-39, B-25, T-6s, etc etc etc). Shoot me an PM and I can take you over there and show you around. Its funny because we didn't get but about 10 drops of rain here in New...
Thanks so much! Its only here that people will get down and dirty just to help you out from a thousand plus miles away! I will be up in the yard tomorrow and will take a look and see what good I can do with the info. I will keep you posted.
I don't mean to sound ignorant on this, but the wires...where do they run from and to and how can I find them? I know the back up lights work just fine as I used them when we unloaded the truck (so much nicer than the A2!). I would like to explore the neutral switch a bit more in depth...
I am going to attempt to post a poll about whether or not to use the CTIS on our M35A3. As posted in a previous thread, our city just acquired the new(er) truck with the CTIS not functional. I like the idea and our primary use will not be for off-roading but for road use and for high water...
Ok, we we took a look at the truck and this is what we discovered:
Starter: Starter works fine if you use a screwdriver to connect the poles. Starts like a champ. The mechanic believes that it may be in the wiring from the switch to the starter as the switch in the cab tested ok. Anything...
M16ty: Now that I am in charge of the ole' girl she won't sit for a long time...that for sure. The old M35A2 we drive once a week and long enough to get operating temps up. I found out the hard way with aircraft (and any other piece of mechanical equipment) that if you let them sit, they will...
