Reinforcing the cab may not do much, as it's liable to just get ripped off in a hard collision, there also isn't any substantial structure to mount a roll bar to which can hold up to the weight of the truck. The best place on the LMTV to put a roll bar is on the forward lifting eyes behind the...
Better is a relative term. A Cummins will have a significant cost penalty as you have to buy one to replace the Caterpillar engine, and the C7 produces quite a bit more torque than a Cummins engine of similar displacement. The C7 is also a larger displacement engine. Personally I think the best...
Most of my trucks will start on 2 batteries however with one, there is a significant voltage drop which causes the secondary solenoid to cycle on and off. I was unable to locate a failed component or bad ground so I put 4 24F batteries and it starts right up everytime.
I bought a HEUI pump for a C7 from Cat a few months ago.. $1600.00. Injectors are approx $300 each with core charge.
I'd prefer a fuel injection problem over a dropped valve of a 3116 any day.
About the only thing of major difference between the A0, A1, and A1R is the electrical system. Axles, frame, body, driveshafts, cooling, suspension, and steering are for the most part the same.

These trucks tend to eat up tires with an open diff, with a defeated diff you will wear them out quickly. It's been my experience that welded diffs always break sooner or later. The spider gears are generally a very hard and brittle steel, and the housing is either ductile iron or soft steel...
It's a pain in the ass, not so much that a sab is heavy, it's rather large and fragile. Best way is to lift either through the windshield opening or the turret hole. If you strap it through the door openings you will crush the roof.
An air to air cooler would be the intercooler. The transmission coolers for the LMTV are liquid to liquid and the MTV has two coolers, the same cooler as the LMTV and an air to liquid cooler mounted rearward of the cab.
