It could be a running model year change or production difference for the various models, I've seen a couple 2004's with the C7 but didn't pay much attention to the serial numbers.
C7 was installed 2004 to present.
3126 was 1999 through 2003.
up 10 1998 was 3116
WTEC 2 was installed through 1997, but earlier trucks could have been updated
WTEC 3 was 1998 to sometime in the middle of 2005
Gen IV was mid 2005 to present
2007 model year saw the different rear axle. Either...
4 turns of the rack limiting screw and a custom S300 turbo capable of flowing enough air for about 700hp and my 3116 screams. I also put some of the 3.07 gears in it and will surprise people when the stop light turns green.
These statements are incorrect BTW. Spin the input on the power divider (as I just did) with it unlocked and hold the rear output and the middle spins. Do the same with the middle locked and the rear output spins. With the divider unlocked torque is varied between the two axles. By locking the...
I've found that trucks with higher miles tend to have quieter axles likely because the gears have worn in and the shims have been adjusted as part of regular maintenance.
With the power divider unlocked toque sent to the rear from the transfer case is divided up between the two rear axles. With it locked there is a 50/50 split and they spin the same speed.
Just an FYI... Texas no longer recognizes the Florida dealer reassignment form sent by GovPlanet when titling an LMTV with an SF97. One either has to produce a title or get a bonded title to title these trucks in TX.
The HEUI system on the caterpillars are super finicky and I'd tread carefully using non OEM parts. I've heard stories of various aftermarket components being installed and then the HEUI pump take a dump. Saving $60.00 may not be such a fantastic idea if it takes out a $1800 pump.
