For future reference the easiest way to spot the bed for the Chevy is the rear outside gussets are angled and not vertical. Well the cckw has a slight angle but the chevy is much more obvious.
I really like the Chevy wrecker. Sweet.
A fake scout car on a fake show with a fake seller and full of s owner. Gotta love tv. I bet this means not everything I read on the internet is real. Dam.
General consensus is trending negative.
Any of you guys with extra scout car armor shoot me a pm i could use a few pieces.:D Halftrack armor always welcome too.
I like it a lot better now that I know the rear armor is original. I was too hard on it. It would have been better to use the proper wheelbase frame i think. Original frame wheelbase is about 131 inches so very close to many standard bed pickup trucks. If someone did a resto mod on a scout car...
The side profile of the rear side armor is not correct. Not saying there isn't some real armor there but the profile is not correct.
No skate rail either. That's kind of a big thing with a scout car.
I just watched it again, it does have some original cab armor and possibly the lower doors, not sure. Not much there really, he claims the tow yard where he bought it told him it was "all original".
For the amount of work it would take to do a replica and make it look right you are better...
Not really, if he had done that it would look a lot better. Very little of that body is scout car, i honestly could not identify one piece except the front crossmember that looked correct. Can't be sure without an up close look but it is basically the equivalent of taking a pinto and cutting the...
I'm surprised he offered him 11k. Way too much. Really it's so ugly he should pay someone to take it. Take off whatever real scout car parts there might be and crush the rest as soon as possible. I'd like to forget I saw it.
Good job on the pics. The frame is no good the back 3 feet are gone but like someone said it is a treasure trove of parts. Lots of odds and ends there plus the drivetrain.
Looked a little closer, that frame might be okay. Hard to tell with those huge tractor duals in place. That gas tank on top is original and sitting in its frame mount. They cut the mount off the frame and stuck it on top. There were one of those tanks under each front seat. The passenger side...
Hard to say for sure from the two pictures but it looks like the frame has been cut in half and stretched or reinforced. If that is the case it is really just a parts truck. If the engine is original (Hercules JXD gasser) and runs well that alone is worth $1000.00 easy imho. I rebuilt a JXD...
Really? Factory class generally means you belong to some organization or club that has shows and judging. You know kind of like the MVPA that you hate sooooo much. So assuming you are actually restoring a truck and not just talking trash who is going to judge your 'finest factory class' cckw...
Elephants have thick skin but they leave behind massive turds in their wake much like yourself.
Norman Vincent Peale wrote a book once called something like "How to win friends and influence people" Might want to check it some time Farby.
I just wonder how long it will take you to get banned...
Chuck did you mean your stuart cost less to buy than your halftrack? You didn't restore your track you bought it already 'restored' did you not?
Regardless at todays prices for a restored Stuart (200K) or unrestored Stuart (?) a halftrack is still a bargain compared to a Stu or a Sherman.
