DieselAddict,
I think you caught my mistake. Started the run with a full tank. Put 5 gal in when the gauge read 1/2 tank twice. Put a final 5 gallons in to bring it back to full right before I shut it down when the power returned.
So I only went through ~10 gallons of fuel for the 37 hours...
First off, I bought the generator for HURICANES!!! 🥶
Highlights: MEP-802
37 hours of continuous run time.
15 gallons of diesel used. Averaged .4 gallon/hour.
First time to blow the VR protection fuse during cranking over. 3A automotive blade fuse, not a slow blow. No veristor at this time...
Pad gas:
Gas added to the vapor space of the vessel or tank to prevent the forming of an explosive or ignitable vapor-air mixture.
Pad pressure:
The minimum pressure of the pad gas. The pressure to be maintained as product is drawn...
The diaphragms have to be large in diameter to get any force to move when dealing with inches of water column, if not pilot operated. I would set the pad pressure as low as possible. Then set the de-pad back pressure regulator as high as possible within safety margin. This will keep the tanks...
You will need to put in some kind of lifting aid on the stator at the point you have it in now. I used an engine hoist. Lift the stator by the cable at the top. Remove the two mounting bolts that attach it to the skid. Put just enough lift to take the load of the stator, no more. It should...
These fitting used on the fuel lines are reusable. Tighten the nut onto a fitting, with the other end of the hose disconnected, unscrew it (blue piece) in a counter clockwise direction. This will back out the ferrule from the tubing. The part left on the hose it’s screwed on with left hand...
Frame from a discarded project:
Risers to get it to the height I wanted a cross bars to set it on:
Found that the steel wheel cart rolls better with the heaver 803 than the rubber wheeled cart for the 802.
Yup, that’s always how it goes!!! Hold on to something for years and finally dispose of it. Desperately need it two weeks later!!!! The hoarder’s nightmare!!!!
I measured the skid of my 802/5K and the tank fits perfectly inside it’s footprint. This also gives me the option to bolt it in the back generator location on my PU trailer.
Looking for just the base skid for a MEP-802. Going to build an AUX fuel skid with an old military 100 gal tank. Also posted in “Parts Wanted”.

Update:
Been cleaning the pistons, connecting rods, all 8 lifters, and IP roller. All the lifters were full of the black sludge. Disassembled them to their individual pieces, cleaned with inspection. Only one was stiff. Coated them with 15w-40 and reassembled. Placed in a ziplock bag with the IP...
I do not think that there are sleeves there from the factory (Lister). I took a flat stone and went over the top edge of the cylinder. The gasket shadow disappeared and all that was left was the swirl marks from the block being decked. The internet research I’ve done shows that most engines...
Agree with you that is an odd spot for a crack. The #3 piston was stuck in the up position (TDC) and had just a little water. That made #4 at the bottom of the stroke and was plum full. The webbing between 2 and 3 is solid, no water jacketing or oil passages. This leads me to think that it...
Well this adventure might have come to an end :-( Brought a cylinder hone back with me to clean up the bores to see if they need to be bored over. Focused on #3 and 4 because they were the ones with standing water. #4 cleaned up nice. #3 did not. Think I found out why the oil was soooooo black...
Every old hot water tank that I ever messed with was so rusted out on the inside and full of hard water deposits. Was most likely leaking at the welds when removed. Old expired horizontal propane tank would make a good fixed location tank, but then you would have to render it safe to weld on. 💥💥
Scored today!!!! Took the family to visit the Grandparents in Georgetown. I alway check the local Facebook Market Place and Craig’s List.
retired military Freighliner fuel tank. 29”x45” works out to 130gal full. Slightly dented on the bottom and no brackets. $40.00
Found a pic of an actual reefer unit
Think I understand why there was a little door cut into the control cover. You open the little door first to let the main door clear that piece of structure as you swing it open to start the generator.
This is what I have been using. Works great.

The parts washer tank is like this one that comes from "CHINA". The pump died long ago. I modified it to drain into a 2 gallon bucket with the recirc pump...
