We were hooking up (wireing) the lights on an 18ft trailer I have today when I happened to notice that the deuce light switch was a little warm.
The trailer was hooked up and we had turned the lights on and off a few times.
Is it normal for the switch to get a little warm? It wasn't hot but...
I couldn't resist doing this (see pics)
I tightened it down with a wrench so I can't remove it my hand. I was afraid is I didn't I wouldn't be able to resist handing it to the next cop that stops me and saying, "Here, hold this while I look for the pin!"
I bought fuel yesterday for the first time since January.
I'd driven approx 40 miles before stopping for fuel and upon starting back out on the road I immediately noticed a marked difference in performace.
Before buying fuel I'd been running along at around 2,200 RPM --- a nice conservative...
I had a guy come up to me today and complained that my bumper is too high off the ground.
I thought about telling him his butt was too far off the ground and that I would be happy to lower it --- clear to the ground. Not knowing who he was or what his motive was I dismissed him.
Anyone...
Yesterday evening I took the half-a-deuce (Rosie) over to a piece of woods property I own a couple of miles of where I live. After driving off the road and back into the property I stopped and walked around for a while.
When I got back home last night I noticed my water bottle was gone. I...
This will probably qualify for the dumb question of the year award but I'm going to ask it anyway.
Both the engines I've had in my deuce --- the one I took out and the new one I installed last December have had a ticking sound in them that sounds like a lose rocker arm (lose valve adjustment)...
Sorry to ask something so simple but I've looked in all my manuals and can't find a fuse spec for the in-tank fuel pump.
What's the proper fuse amperage?
Well, It finally happened --- I've been lucky but the other day I had a go-arond with fuel jelling problems. Luckily I was close to home and was able to limp home.
I had the tank spiked pretty heavily with Power Service and since I hadn't had any trouble in previously colder weather I thought...
Does anyone know if there is a goblin that hangs out around the front freeze plug on the LDT & LDS Multis?
To date I've had three freeze plug block heaters quit working that were all mounted in the front plug area.
I originally thought the first one (which was new) went out because I started...
Hello,
A friend told me today about what he believes to be a good running early 50s Reo deuce that might be for sale. He knows the owner, says it was used in the woods and has a loader mounted on the back. The engine (331 Reo) was rebuilt not many hours ago and the body is in good condition. It...
After posting a couple of pictures of my dual exhaust system on another thread a SS menber sent me a PM requesting more pictures with explanition.
For some reason I can't get pictures to attach to PMs therefore to keep from completely hijacking the previous thread I'm starting this new/clean...
Since I don't have stock tires on my truck I doubt if there is a TM that covers this question.
Concerning tow-in. When running radials on a deuce should there be any tow-in or should it be at zero (no tow-in)?
I’m finding that the new LDS-465-1A engine in my bobbed deuce is capable of quickly producing dangerously high exhaust gas temperatures.
Call me naïve but I’m surprised! I figured that since the injection pump setting is stock and given that the LDS (5-ton) engine is in a bobbed deuce and...
If you've ever wondered why your defrosters don't measure up to the task I may have discovered the reason.
In an attempt to free space under the hood I am installing the deuce heater under the dash. Given I've got the motor and transmission out, now is the time to do under dash work. With the...
Outside of installing and bleeding new fuel filters are there any "quirks" I should know about when starting up a Tead rebuild that has been in storage for 19 years?
The engine, an LDS-465-1A, was new in 85 and was rebuilt in 88. Instead of a can it came in a wooden pallet/cradle. It was...
In a previous post I mentioned a sticker on one of the fuel filter canisters on my new LDS engine stating that the fuel density compensator had been by-passed.
The sticker was obviously in error because upon close inspection I found the FDC to be configured the same as in Fig. 1 below.
I...
While installing spin-on filters on the new LDS-1A engine I noticed a yellow sticker on the side of an oil filter canisters that says "only" diesel fuel should be used. It says the FDC has been bypassed to prevent the possibility oil being contaminated with fuel.
The engine was new in 85 and...
