Thanks Clinto, when they said cork gasket,I thought they meant between
the hub and the axle flange. They should call it a plug,would make it easier
for us newbies.

I might be misunderstanding you guys,I am looking at the TM,where is this cork plug,
or do you mean cork gasket?
Is there a way to let the rear bearings be dif oil bathed instead of just grease?
I am looking to do this to my soon to be my M35,I have so many TM's now,I get lost looking
for certain things. Could someone please tell me the TM# for the axles. Thanks

To this thread,these are very interesting reads of the pit falls we can encounter
trying to license these old girls.
I hope my process goes without a hitch, good luck to you.
Reading the Tm was a big help on understanding these trucks,
but it did not tell me if I could use a M246A2 to tow a truck
like the M816 unit can.
There is a M816 up here for 19,000Cdn,but I prefer the M246
for it's 5th wheel and 25 foot reach.
It could thicken as the temp lowers,this will cause the lines to get plugged.
It may be more of a head ache than a good idea.
That said, I could see it working if you were to use it up on a trip,and not
let it sit.
I have a thread where I asked if a member here could do a video
of the proper starting procedure. I haven't seen one yet.
They guy seems like a likable fellow,but if you are going to put
out a video to inform the masses,you need your facts straight.
One also has to be mind full of the ground they are driving on,
soft,hardpack and silty. Don't forget holes that you could fall in
past your limit.
The detail you put into your truck prior to going into the water
will save you wheelbarrows worth of coin later.
