For Tower Park the frequency was 51.00.... I guess that's become something of a standard which is nice. We encountered others on that freq. on our convoy.

eBay... I paid $60+ shipping for two identical ones, new old stock. Before I painted mine, it looked exactly like the one in the link you posted above. Mine are the 8" 4-hammer ones, and they came with mounting hardware.

Thanks guys!
Mechanical back-up bell.
I always liked hearing those as a kid and was disgusted the first time I heard a truck go "beep-beep-beep" instead of "ding-ding-ding"... When I had the soft top on the cab, I couldn't see through the milky plastic window, and was worried I...
That study has been posted here before... Very good info.
The "Super Tech" 2-cycle oil they tested - which is WalMart brand - in my opinion, is rather poor quality stuff. It's very thin / watery compared to other brands of 2-cycle oil. I use a little better than a 200:1 ratio of 2-cycle oil...
Wow, I never knew Buck had posted here.... a few years ago, anyway. I have been a member of the Detroit Diesel Yahoo Group for going on 15 years now, very shortly after it was created. Buck is a stroke survivor so you have to excuse his spelling, it is difficult for him to type, but I don't...
I'm not that great either.... If I were doing this repair, I would prep the parts, have them clean and fitted exactly, and take it to a good welder (a friend of mine) who would do a 1st class job of it in 10 minutes.
I've never understood why CUCVs rust out in that spot, from the inside out...

I can't tell what is on the bottom end... Splines? Doesn't look like a deuce winch shaft to me, the shaft for the multifuels is thicker and necks down near the splined end to clear the bell housing. The shaft for gassers is thicker all the way down. Seems a little long too.
Maybe it's for...
Well it's not the wiring.... My next step is to get another thermocouple and try that. I haven't pulled the old one out yet, maybe damage will be obvious.
My fuel is turned up so high I don't like driving the deuce at all without the pyro. When I get the gauge working again I'm going to...
We won't be there this year.... They said they have a large number of WWII vehicles attending this year so they didn't need any Vietnam-era "filler". Oh well! It sure was fun last year. Even better, you'll have to come with us to Miramar if you're still in CA.
They were a used set from Dave...
Looks like your FDC is bypassed.... You could take those fittings out and put pipe plugs in there if the kinked hose is a little too cheesy for you...

If I were worried about losing a belt or a seized alternator leaving me stranded, I'd carry a length of Power Twist belt with me.... This is tough stuff, and they work so well that they are a viable alternative to regular v-belts. I've got about 30' of the stuff here in various sizes and on...
I assume you meant 3/8-16, that would be a standard coarse thread... 3/8-18 is a taper tap for 3/8" pipe threads.
All the different sizes people are finding makes me suspect that the original threads have been drilled out and re-tapped on many trucks.
In addition to checking Barstow and French Camp, don't forget about Norton, near Las Vegas.... The drive back would be similar to the drive back from French Camp. We just finished a convoy from So.Cal to Lodi and back for Tower Park, passed French Camp on the way. Figure around $180 for fuel...
"HH" is the injector pump's "hydraulic head".... the round part on top that the injection lines come off of.
I suspected that was the problem too... Glad to hear it's so-far-so-good.

Ha! Yeah.... She's pretty cool, she accepts my eccentricities. Rolls her eyes once in a while but knows that she can't change me, and therefore doesn't bother trying. We've been dating almost a year already, she's a vast improvement over all others, who either barely tolerated or openly...
Last weekend Jim and I drove our deuces to the Orange Empire Railway Museum in Perris, CA which was hosting the American Truck Historical Society's 26th Annual Antique Truck Show.... I won "Best Heavy Military Truck"!
There were about 7 deuces there, I wish I had a picture of them all lined...
It's been over 4 years since I first painted my deuce, and it was getting to be time for a freshening up!
The wooden troop seats drove me nuts, I have had a terrible time keeping paint on them.... Even sanding down to clean bare wood and using Kilz Bare Wood Primer, the primer still peels off...
When I tried to order Randolph paint, they wanted my social security number and other information irrelevant to the sale or use of paint... I opposed giving that information so I was not able to order from them. Maybe if I had given all they request I would have then been disappointed by the...
