I was reading that the entire carrier needs to be swapped to the 4.10 and lower.
If that is so what do people recommend for new carrier to fit the 3.73 ring and pinion, I'm leaning between either Spicer or Yukon, unless theres a better price on another brand.
What do the costs end up being for...
Why does the Humvee have a mechanical throttle position system whereas the cucv has vacuum?
Personally I despise vacuum systems.
Anyone ever think of putting the Humvee system onto the cucv?
I can see where the blue wire comes out, which I think is a switched ground (switched by the glow plug module) but I can't seem to find the pink/black wire that is labeled as going to the fuse box.
Where exactly does this pink/black wire plug into the fuse box?
Can't really find a straight answer on this, I do know the 700r4 to NV4500 works without changing the crossmember.
Can I use my existing crossmember for my th400+np208 for an nv4500 swap? I think a spacer is still involved since the manual is mounted higher.
I am trying to find a manual clutch/brake pedal assembly, but there are not that many for sale. I found one, but the seller says they do not know if it's off a hydroboost or vacuum brake truck.
What are the physical differences between the hydroboost and vacuum brake pedal assemblies?
Pic of...
Did the 12v conversion and deleted the driver's side alternator and now I'm trying to find a v belt that fits the larger groove on the PS pulley.
Anyone know the circumference difference between the inner and outer grooves on the power steering pulley?
I do not have a way to measure it.
I've seen this device mentioned in several of stanadynes documentation about their injection pumps.
Its a mechanical linkage that can override the fuel shutoff solenoid. I think it'd be pretty cool to have on a cucv, it could make a 6.2/6.5 and entirely mechnical engine, not a single wire...
Currently, after sitting for a night, if I try to start my truck it takes a good minute of cranking to get it started. Smoking pretty good while cranking, so fuel is getting to the engine.
New glow plugs (60g), new fuel pump, new fuel filter (using fm100 base), replaced fuel lines to/from the...
I were to get a military 24v pump, what would I have to change to make it 12v? Is it just the shutoff solenoid?
Also does anyone know if the stanadyne pumps meant for vans and motorhomes can be used on a 6.5 no problem?
At a cross roads here.
I'm going to swap in a nv4500 either way, so I figured I have two options. I'm going with NA on both simply for reliability.
Obviously a 6.5 GEP is going to be drop in, probably cheaper... but I found a 5.9 12v complete engine for $800, 400k, but better than the $4k...
Kinda hard to hear the sound in the videos, but there is a very loud hum sound when I let off the throttle. Only happens below 40 and above 5 mph.
If I shift into neutral when coasting, the sound is still there.
Normal sound?

Eventually I want to swap in a GEP 6.5 NA, but I'm not looking to slap a turbo and turn up the fuel. I would like to get one of those drop in GEPs that humvees were using to replace the old 6.2. Keep it same power levels or near same as my current 6.2, but with a better block. Objective here is...
Can't say I'm surprised here, my state seems to be outrageous when it comes to getting plates for anything military related...
Heres a quick backstory,
Bought this truck with maryland title, title has nothing regarding model, just 1986 chevy. The WA DoL looked it up and found it to be a D30 by...
I can't seem to fine a straight answer with Google, so I'll ask here.
What engines did GM give the option of having an nv4500 behind?
I saw that the 6.5 in the 90s had it, but what gas engines?
GEP 6.5NA replacement?
I was thinking about dropping in a GEP 6.5NA in place of my current 6.2. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with super high mileage gep engines and if they lasted significantly longer than thier GM counterparts?
This will probably be down the road a bit because...
I'm not sure why this is, but my old humvee 6.2 engine would only take a bump of the key on an average temperature day to fire right up. But my cucv 6.2 takes a solid 1-1.5 seconds and then fires up.
Its a small difference, I know, but it got me interested in why there would be a difference...
So the previous owner of my truck apparently tried to have a new starter put in, didn't work or something and so I have this extra starter laying around.
The only identification it has is two stickers.
One says 12v and the other 24v. Can anyone ID this thing?
Previous owner removed the ste ice plug from the cab, so I'm not sure if the entire diagnostics harness is still there or not.
Are those blocks what used to attached to the diagnostics plug?
Anyone know the exact replacement for the pinion yoke on the Dana 70s?
I'm still wrenching on the nut to take it off, but in the mean time I thought I'd go pick up the replacement somewhere.
Summit racing has a few, but theres couple u joint sizes/spline counts to choose from.
So my 6.2 cranks but doesn't start.
All glow plugs have replaced with ac Delco 60g. I checked voltage at the plugs and they are getting 12v.
I checked the pink wire on the IP and it's getting 12v, I also sanded the tab down a bit for better contact.
Fuel gauge read 1/2 tank, but I put 5...
