The GL yards that I have been to are locked up. AND....when stuff comes up missing, MOST of the time it is because the GL site manager lets soldiers on the base come in and take what they want. I just had this discussion with a GL site manager who had 2 soldiers come tell him to let them in...
RE: Re: RE: Bad idea for a non-grease monkey to get a deuce?
You WILL spend more on tools & parts than you do on buying the deuce.
I.E. -- Tires (used) $100/each, air lines, lights, wiring, PAINT, body work, DOT5 brake fluid ($25/quart), windows, etc.
I dont think it takes a genious to work...
Well you will like your MVs a LOT better than your boats!
Remember the two happiest days of a boat owners life.....the day he buys it & the day he sells it! ;) rofl
Oh....and there is no hope....12 steps dont work....look at my signature
You got one H*LL of a deal on that! ;) I almost bought it....but I held back and made myself leave my house at 4:00pm.....
You got 2 brand new radials, a new pioneer tool set, a ladder, and a extra soft top in the back.
Good buy! [thumbzup]
I am truly happy I dont have more $! My house would end up looking like a military version of sanford & son.... rofl
I cant wait to see the updates
I was going to dinner tonight and thought I saw a 5ton dump truck....so I had my buddy turn around to check it out. It was a M342 PERFECTLY restored! Even underneath was painted!
I thought about waiting around to see if the owner would trade it to me for a couple deuces! rofl
Sorry for the...

Here is a picture....
If you arent going UP and DOWN hills, you will be fine! You should be able to go 50-55mph. Make sure you pull the driveshafts though....it pulled much easier once I did that.
The bad part is.....I have to go BACK to the same base in a couple weeks when my EUC clears so I can get my 2 M818s...
Re: RE: 818 truck
You can drive on in VA with no special license. As long as it is for "personal use" ONLY.
I have spoken with the VA state police commercial enforcement AND the DOT about this. They both told me that as long as it is for personal use, it falls under "recreational vehicle"...
Well.....I made it. Very slooooowy.
Just to fill you in, in case you dont know....I bought a M109A3 in Ft Drum, NY (about 475 mies away from me). My "friends" were all jumping at the chance to drive my deuce home & I was going to drive the M109A3 home. BUT, 2 days before I had to leave, they...
Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Pulling one wheel from the duals
I change tires on my deuces in under 15 minutes each....BY MYSELF! That includes jacking up the truck, dropping the spare, change tires, remove jack & put spare back.
I have a 20 ton air-bottle jack, and I run my 1/2" ingersol-rand...
Good luck with that.
When the axle is pulled, a small amount of tension is released & the holes will be off by a 1/2 inch or so. Unless you lift the other side completely off the ground....that shaft will not turn.
Maddawg308 posted a step-by-step with photos on how to do this --->...
This is OBVIOUSLY a test of a possible market. I would assume that GL is trying this at 2 bases where major dealers buy a lot of trucks. It would make GL's life much easier if all truck sales went this way.....solely for the fact of reducing their workforce (no extra livechat, customer...
