New filter on-still wet at base. Had her clean and dry. New problem now-she starts up well. Drive 1/2 mile down the roda and engines barely runs. Pumping throttle (seems to work better than floored) barely keeps engine running. Lots of smoke when this happens. Sit on side of road until she...
I did mine in Gillipsie 383 colors. My truck is an A3 with the typical rusted hood bands so had to correct that before paint. There where surface rust spots on sides near grill too. Sandblasted these sports, then clean with Eastwood rust preventive spray then painted repaired sections with...
Here are a few pictures of my Sparta M932. Had to hide it at a friend on mines house. Many thanks to Scott for letting me hide this thing from the wife and kids so I could develop "the story". She may not notice the difference between this one and the three others I have-especially after they...
Hey-I better check my truck is still out back!-She looks just like mine. I agree that Sparta is well run, well organized-looks clean and straight. Mike and Seth are great guys-they have helped me when there.
Did you notice the two Oshkosh big water trucks? These would make great portable hot...
I have a similar project about to start. I have an M923 that will be the start of my camper. The key here is to have it as light as possible-its a center of gravity thing. The shell for mine will be a segmented bolt together made of aluminum. Body is of monoque design and is repairable.
Pete
I was just at the CAT shop in Columbus (south of Forest Lake near Gander Mtn). Picked up a fuel filter for about $8. Do need to find an Allison shop on the north side.
Look me up when you get back, we can compare notes.
I have left my A3 outside a few nights to see if she would start. Got down...
Thank you for the nice comment.
Post pictures when you get yours-925 is a nice looking truck. The 923 I recovered was my first 5-ton. The power steering works well, the cab noise is low compared to other MV's. Pretty nice driving at highway speed with the tach at 2,000 RPM. These are nice...
I flushed it my self over a few days. It wasnt as bad as I thought. Picked up a large blue catch pan with nozzle. Drained about 8 quarts each time.
Found a perfect re-fill funnel at Napa-then saw the same one at Wall Mart-its black with accordian bellows type nozzle. This thing fit perfect in...
Picked up a GL won M923 for myself, a buddy picked his M923 and A3 win at Sparta this week. Drove the 5-tons and hauled the A3 back to St Paul with little issue. Had a buddy of mine drive mine home-he has a CDL-air brake license, so he got to have the driving fun. The 5-ton trucks where in very...
I just lost my dad Cpl Gary Hoefler First Cav in November of this year. Helping my mom deal with dad's passing. This is a very difficult thing for a woman loosing her husband-support in terms of helping and monetary is a big deal. I wish to donate money from my credit card-SS is capable of...
my A3 does the same thing. I have a portable propane heater with fan-was going to run it under the truck to help thaw it a bit before starting. Given I am in Minnesota, the need to do this will be often. Where do you get the replacement ether cartridges?
Pete,
Save whats flushed-it will be about 2 gallons per flush or 8 gallons + total. I found it at Fleet farm in Oakdale-it has the Allison rating. 5 gallon bucket or 1 gallon jug-all about 8 or 9 dollars a gallon. My truck shifts better now that all the motor oil is out. I have saved all of the...
