That's true Rusty. Sit in the set, drop the clutch pedal, check the gear shifter. All things you do without even thinking about it. But, that day I wasn't planning on driving the truck, just let it run for awhile. So I just reached in and pushed the start button. I never felt the truck try to...
Well.... I got some good advice from others here and I did need new batteries....
But it turned out to just be a bone head newbie mistake.... The truck had been setting in that spot for months. With the rain and mud it had pretty much attached itself to the ground.
So much so that I never...
Truck was losing fuel prime. Prime with the hand pump, would start but die after a minute of running. Pulled the pick-up tube from the tank. The fitting flopped around on the copper tube like a bobble head. Cleaned, resoldered and installed. Fires up and runs steady.
Daily driver...... if only the place I work had the parking space. We already have people parking down the street going to our building.
But the boss man does want me to dive it to work so he can see it... even said he would pay for the fuel.
A little more digging today....
Decided to go ahead and pull the Hydraulic Head. Pretty simple to pull. Lifted the HH out and found the problem. Just your standard "Yep, the button fell off". Took a few more pics for those that want to see.
Hey gimpyrobb - Read in a post somewhere you had some...
OK. Had a few min to look at the truck today. I pulled the FDC to see what things looked like. Everything inside was clean and seemed moved freely.
Looks like the the reason the fuel rod is not going all the way to the 7-8 o'clock position is because that is where the FDC is set. With the FDC...
gimpyrobb - Took another look today. Tried moving the rod further to the run position, felt solid. I went ahead and pulled the fuel rod. Every looks nice and clean and moves freely. The plunger sleeve moves freely. I can lift it up and it will fall freely. What is stopping everything in that...
gimpyrobb - I'll give that a try. It does have a good metal to metal "tap" when it goes back to that position, so it feels like it's hitting something. I'll check and see if it will go further. The connecting rod goes back to a lever in the governor, right? Any chance something there is...
Yep. In-tank pump works. I went ahead and changed the filters first. Watched fuel come though the lines when I first turned pump back on. Opened bleed screw on top of secondary filters, plenty on fuel there.
No Start, Fuel Shutoff Rod Position, Hydraulic Head Button
So I have the typical situation..... Truck ran fine with no signs of problems... Parked and sat for a week... Went to start tuck to let run for awhile.... No start.
Spent some time in the threads and TMs. Looks like the common thought...
It's a long shot. But is anyone traveling this way anytime soon? Would like to find someone willing to pickup an item on your way down. I'm willing to pay for the trip. I purchased a winch wire rope/chain from jimk. Would like to arrange transport. Yes, it could be done with a freight...
OK guys. Rain finely stopped. Didn't have much time, but I did climb up to see if I could turn the engine over....
I really didn't see a way to get a breaker bar/socket on to turn the engine over. But by hand I could grab the fan and put tension on the belts..... With my hand around the middle...

Batteries both old (not holding a charge, even when disconnected) and new are group size 65. 850 cranking amps (1000cca). connected in series (24V).
Cleaned connections and cable ends when installing today.
Will check cables for chafing. Is there enough room to turn the engine...
Was thinking about trying to turn the engine over by hand. Can that be done from up top? Kinda muddy under the truck right now. How hard should it be to turn?
The truck has a flame heater..
Hydro lock may fit the bill. One other thing that may be a piece of the puzzle.... the first time it did...
Hey guys. Looking for a little trouble shooting help...
Truck crank/ran/shut off fine the last time it was ran. Only a couple weeks ago. Will try to go through what happened.
1. I connected the short jumper wire on the batteries ( I disconnect the batteries between runs)
2. Turned on...
