It was just seep. Pulled the heads today and taking to machine shop tomorrow. I was concerned w/ the studs losing thier elasticity. I have heard this is a problem w/ some engines, not necessarily multi's. I'll keep you posted. Andy......
Well, I've joined the blown gasket club, one of the Frankfort trucks is leaking. I have the new style set and going to have the heads planed. My question is should the head studs be repaced with new ones? This engine is a continental, so its is an older one. I know some manufactures recommend...
What you are describing sounds like a brush rake. I've worked with a vietnam vet and he talked about '' Roman plows''. He described it as two giant '' shaped like jacks, the kind kids play with'' steel I beams , an x if you will, with two more legs at right angles to the x. 12' or more in...
Thanks guys, some more ideas to think about. Does any one know the how and why of the shuttle valve on the tractors? I think it is located at the bottom of the pogo stick. I've managed to glean this from the TM. Thanks Andy............
I have put a "jockey handle" from a M275 tractor on my M 35 to control brakes on 20 ton drag. I have the air supply to the valve from under the dash hooked up and believe this is correct, as used original plumbing from donor. I traced the service line from the rear of truck up to air pac. It...
I too try to drive mine to work at least once every turn over. No negative comments at all, everybody thinks it's great!!! Vehicle of choice when I'm off. Over 5200 miles in the 9 months I've had it. CARRY ON!!! Andy..........
Thanks for the replies. The oven part of this has a date with the gas ax, trailer portion will live on. I can buy it before it is destroyed, but really do not have a use for it, BUT if is really rare I can still rescue it. What do you think? Andy....
Sorry no pictures. How rare are baked good's trailer? Trailer is a single wheel, 11.00x20 tires. M 537? chassis 2.5 ton, has the older single wheel landing gear and the older style tail/ black out lights and a leveling jack at each corner. The oven? is 12 ft. long and resembles in principal the...
Do you think the tranny is toast and thus locking the engine? If it were me, I think I'd start with the trans and make sure that wasn't it before I tore into the engine. Just my 2cents worth. Keep us posted!:-D
Hey joeypushjr, just used enclosed termnial box, made the "pigtails" going to the plugs long enough to lay the block out of the box and connect everything up, then put back in box. I used 2 machine screws w/ wing nuts to secure block to side of box. Also used# 10 ring stakeons on wire ends. For...
Hi Jeff, thanks for the invite, sounds like a good time! BBBuuuuttttttt, once again work interferes, sure messes up important things ;-). Maybe things will work out, if not ya'll have a good time! Later, Andy.....
If I understand you correctly, the plate must be on "edge" to have any stregnth. I've seen trucks stretched at professional shops and they weld in the piece of donor frame and then "plate" the outside of the rail, top to bottom, or the depth or the rail. They use flat plate and bolt or rivet it...
Very useful and practical project. I LIKE IT!!!! Is any frame reinforcement required or is stock strong enough? Just thinking outloud, but with the weight of the crane behind cab, instead of cutting bed, slide it back enough to use as is, even with bed"centered" over tandems, truck would"balance...
This is what i came up with to pull civilan trailers, still have to change the bulbs but this box adapts to all my trailers. Next step is to put a reducer in each leg if they make such a thing. Brakes on trailer are no problem because they are all air brakes.:-D Andy...............
