I have a red River m923a1 rebuild. It was a 2011 rebuild. Only issue's I have had were a faulty air line, a bad speedo cable, and a area on a fender where the paint is peeling. Other than that it has been a great truck.
The transfer case should be in high gear.the switch is under the truck off of the transfer case. We have a theme going on here all related to the transfer case.
Sounds like the transfer case could have been bumped were the switch isn't seeing it in gear. also make sure the transfer leaver button is all the way up, and also in high range. if not it will cause it to do things like that.
What happens when you run 3 phase is that the L1 and L3 are 120 degrees out. Were in single phase there 180 degrees out out . you may have to increase your voltage slightly to comp for being out 60 degrees.
Most of us don't run them in battle short so we may not realize the problem. When your in battle short it ignores all the safetys built in the unit that keep it from hurting itself.
