Well I just acquired a 1972 Goat. I did a trade with some friends in BC for there Goat that they used for movie rentals. It was used in X-Men, Electra and a few other movies. I got well versed in the service end of it now with the seemingly endless number of grease nipples. I now am in the...
I got a Napa oil filter which was close to the one that was in there but I think the next time I need to order some parts I will get a few OEM ones. Here is a couple pics of my new toy, the seat is just temporary as The guy I got it from lost the original one but one is on order.
The wix 33034 comes up as a fuel filter but the napa fil 1514 number looks good. I have the original 2cyl with cartridge. well doing a search the Wix filter came up as a 51514 filter but the gasket to seal the cartridge is the wrong one according to the person that used it. Thanks for the...
Dave is that just a first cote as it looks like in the pictures that a lot of spots were missed and the paint did not seem to apply evenly (been there done that).

Thanks for the comments as I put a lot of hours in to restoring it back to the way it was issued. I just have to source a little more kit for it and then it will be complete and in time to get out and drive it this summer :D
I just finished a frame off restoration on my iltis cable layer as I tackled this project last February thinking I would just get it running as the motor was melted from getting way too hot. I purchased it as a salvage iltis from the local base as it was suppose to have made its way to the...
If I remember right I went to the parts guy with a number that some had listed a while back for the motor but he said that there was no such number available. I then asked him what he had in a 2" 1000 watt heater and that is what I picked from the 2 that were available.
I added a zero start 1000 watt block heater to the block and it works great. I had to do a little grinding on the inside of the block at the 6 O'Clock position and bend the element a little to fit in the block properly but a couple hours plugged in at -28 Celsius at strats great.
